The Vibration / Predictive Technician, Lake Charles Refinery collects and analyzes sample data to ensure the Mechanical Integrity and Reliability of equipment in the Vibration Program at the Lake Charles Refinery. This is an hourly, represented position reporting to the Rotating Equipment team.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform Inspection/Tests and analyze the results for equipment per the RAMP and MI Documents.  Report findings to the Areas and document in the appropriate MMS databases.
  • Create SAP notifications for equipment with failed inspection test.
  • Network with other Phillip 66 Predictive Technologists to share expertise and partner to develop common work practices.
  • Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities as defined in the MI Documents and as directed by Supervision.
  • Assist Areas with troubleshooting and resolving Bad Actor in the Area.
  • Be a key member of the Area Reliability Team, making the Area aware of upcoming issues or trends in the data analysis.
  • Follow all Safety Procedures and Policies.
  • Follow the Industrial Hygiene Standards.
  • Follow all Work Procedures and Policies.

 

What You’ll Bring (Required)

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • 4 or more years of experience working with rotating equipment
  • Intermediate or greater proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Willing and able, if selected, to attend the Introduction to Applied Vibration Analysis – ISO Cat 1 course and pass the ISO Cat 1 test within 1 year of employment start
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card TWIC). Information can be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic
  • Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to perform/comply with the following:
    • Work overtime
    • Read technical procedures and materials in English
    • Work in enclosed spaces such as tanks and silos
    • Work near large, hot, high-speed machines
    • Work near products that are under high pressure and heat
    • Work around chemicals, including acids and bases
    • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel- toe shoes, ear and eye protection)
    • Maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
    • Work with petroleum products that are under high pressure and heat
    • Climb up to 100 feet in height
    • Lift up to 50 pounds
    • Work outside in harsh weather conditions

 

What Makes You Stand Out (Preferred)

  • Vibration Level I certification or higher
  • 10 or more years of Vibration Technician experience

 

Compensation

This position has a base hourly pay of $49.44 (2nd class craftsperson) to $52.54 (1st class craftsperson) per hour. Base hourly pay is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Additional benefits include 7.5% annual bonus target, 8% 401k match, and Cash Balance Account pension.

 

The Lake Charles Refinery is located in Westlake, Louisiana. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. Facilities also include a specialty coker and calciner. The refinery processes a mixture of light to heavy, low- and high sulfur and low- and high-acid crude oils. It receives domestic, Canadian and other foreign crude oil through truck, pipeline, marine transportation and terminals, including the Beaumont and Clifton Ridge terminals and the Bayou Bridge Pipeline. Lake Charles produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include off-road diesel, home heating oil, feedstock for our Excel Paralubes joint venture, specialty graphite petroleum coke and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed in the southeastern and eastern United States by truck, rail car, barge or pipelines and exported to Latin America and West Africa.
