Senior Account Manager, Technical Sales

The Senior Account Manager, Technical Sales role is responsible for driving sales growth and strengthening Mining customer relationships within an assigned geography. This position partners closely with customers and internal teams to deliver value-driven solutions, grow market share, and support long-term strategic objectives while maintaining strong operational discipline.

What You'll Do

  • Develop, identify, and cultivate strategic relationships with assigned customer and marketer accounts to drive sales growth, profitability, and long‑term customer satisfaction across the assigned region.
  • Establish relationships with key personnel at each customer facility and corporate office. Contact would include but not be limited to Mine Manager/General Manager, Maintenance Manager, Reliability Manager, Operations Manager, Shop Foreman, Procurement or Sourcing Manager.
  • Maintain a vigilant safety mindset while working in unfamiliar environments and willing to “stop work” before making a safety error.
  • Will focus on end-user component and equipment life as it relates to lubricant selection, storage, and delivery.
  • Will conduct regularly scheduled business reviews with customers to account for financial and material activity, savings, and new opportunities.
  • Pursue new business opportunities by leveraging technical sales support and business development resources as needed to deliver value‑based solutions.
  • Lead customer engagements including sales calls, negotiations, and contract discussions with marketers and end customers, ensuring favorable commercial terms and alignment with company standards.
  • Manage pricing strategies and price changes to maximize profitability while maintaining competitive positioning and customer relationships in each market.
  • Provide market intelligence and competitive insights to Brand Management, Product Management, Business Development, and internal sales teams to inform future initiatives and long‑term strategies.
  • Coordinate with business development, field engineering, and technical sales teams to support customer operations, engineering initiatives, and end‑customer value propositions.
  • Offer lubricant related training for end-user via on-site classes and regionally offered classes led personally or by approved and credible instructors.

What You'll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • 3 or more years of experience in sales, marketing, or customer support roles
  • Intermediate proficiency with CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to travel extensively up to 70% within assigned territory
  • Ability to drive for long periods of time, lift up to 50lbs, maintain PPE and operate in a safe manner on customer sites
  • Ability to earn and maintain MSHA certification

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • College or Technical Degree
  • 10 Years + Technical Experience
  • Mining or mining support related experience of at least 5 years
  • Knowledge of Lubricants
  • Background in heavy duty equipment maintenance
  • Preferred CLS, MLA, or additional industry certifications
  • Ability to manage accounting issues within Phillips 66 and end-user systems
  • Strong skills in SalesForce, Pricing, and Office related programs

 

 

 

Compensation Range 

This position has a base salary range of $140,400 - $171,600.

At Phillips 66, we are committed to pay transparency and competitive, equitable compensation. Each role is assigned a salary grade with a defined pay range, benchmarked against industry peers. Where a candidate offer falls within the posted range depends on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s requirements. Offers are made to ensure internal equity and market competitiveness. Our compensation programs are designed to reward performance and support career growth.
