I&E Technician, Clemens Caverns

The Instrumentation & Electrical Technician will be based at the Clemens Caverns (about 5 miles south of Brazoria, TX) and is primarily responsible for the safe operations and maintenance of Company midstream assets located in and around the geographic area. The Technician will calibrate and inspect measurement equipment, conduct routine pipeline maintenance, eliminate and report product leaks, seeps, and spills, as well as assist with construction, maintenance and mechanical integrity projects. The Technician will maintain qualifications and record documentation in accordance with all applicable DOT and OSHA regulations to ensure compliance.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Performing and providing technical support for installations, maintenance, and repairs of mechanical, electrical, and rotating equipment.
  • Performing planned maintenance checks and calibration and timely submits appropriate reports.
  • Assisting supervisors in changing technology and budget requirements.
  • Maintaining effective spare parts inventory.
  • Assisting in pump tear down/rebuild inspections and new pump installations.
  • Working with Pipeline Integrity and Reliability group for new technologies around rotating equipment.
  • Minimizing downtime and unsafe conditions by performing preventative maintenance.
  • Maintaining mechanical skills by attending training sessions and on-the-job training.
  • Maintaining technical and administrative records, including prints and project reports.
  • Completing electrical repairs (24 volts up to 69K volts).
  • Troubleshooting control circuits for motors.
  • Responding to emergencies and participate in emergency response.
  • Driving teamwork throughout the area of responsibility.
  • Supervising, directing, and training contract crews.
  • Participating in Safety Action Plans.
  • Completing and maintaining required safety/regulatory training (CBT).
  • Pursuing cost reduction opportunities.
  • Reading and understanding pump curves.
  • Reading and understanding P&ID's (process and instrumentation diagrams).
  • Assist in PLC & SIS minor programming.

  
Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Live (or willing to relocate) within 1 hour of reporting location

  • Willingness and ability to perform and comply with following, with or without reasonable accommodation:

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Electrical Maintenance, Instrumentation, or Industrial Electronics
  • Intermediate level of proficiency using MS Office and SAP 
  • 2 or more years of relevant Industry experience (Midstream, Pipelines, or Terminals) or Military experience
  • 4 or more years of experience working with any of the following: 
    • Electrical power distribution and components
    • Motor Variable Speed Drives (VFD)
    • Digital and analog circuitry
    • One-line drawings and schematics
    • Allen-Bradley/Siemens PLCs
    • Rosemount Transmitters
    • OMNI/ABB TotalFlow flow computers
    • Mechanical and rotating equipment
    • Motor Valve Actuators, Limitorque, Rotork, REXA
    • Pneumatic Valve Actuators, Bettis

 

Midstream

Phillips 66's Midstream business is a safe, reliable and trusted logistics provider for the movement and storage of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 22,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
