The Field Technician works out of the Phillips 66 Midstream office in San Antonio, TX, and supports the Pearsall and Dilley areas. The Field Technician will work independently and with other personnel to maintain and operate equipment and processes in Midstream business unit. Some of the processes involved use hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure. Typical working conditions include outside weather and elements, blowing air, heat, noise, vibration and occasionally working from heights and confined spaces. Operators must follow safe work practices including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).  The Field Technician is intended to be qualified to perform the majority of maintenance, electrical, measurement, and repair tasks.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Maintain PLC, HMI equipment, software, pipeline valves and actuators.
  • Maintain and repair motor control equipment
  • Promotes good relations between the company, customers and the landowners.
  • Maintain close contact with the Area Supervisor in regard to equipment trouble reports and scheduled equipment maintenance to ensure minimum interruption of product throughout.
  • Maintenance and repair of prime mover and pumps.
  • Knowledgeable of environmental regulations and company policy concerning handling and disposal of hazardous substances.
  • Works autonomously at varying times and in diverse weather conditions, at remote field locations and is available for callout.
  • Participates and successfully completes training programs, risk management reviews, and safety meetings.
  • Reviews and follows procedures as necessary to ensure compliance of all company and industry standards.
  • Damage Prevention.
  • Conducts routine inspection, calibration and repair of end devices such as transmitters, switches, fire eyes, hazardous gas detection, level detection, loop tuning, etc.
  • Accurately completes documentation such as timesheets, work orders, safe job plans\work permits and regulatory reports.
  • Performs and accurately documents regulatory required inspections. Oversees contractors, providing specialty services (Quality Assurance, Quality Control).
  • Performs other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization Maintain PLC, HMI equipment, software, pipeline valves and actuators.
  • Maintain and repair motor control equipment Maintenance and repair of prime mover and pumps.
  • Sampling and testing of product streams for quality control and accurate measurement.
  • Maintains facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices.
  • Participates in available cross training to effectively develop skills in themselves and peers.
  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair measurement equipment (including meters, provers, flow computers, etc.).
  • Maintains and repairs instrumentation and electrical equipment.
  • Performing troubleshooting, repairs, inspections, calibrations and replacement of equipment as necessary:
    • Inspect and Test Pressure Regulating Systems
    • Install Threaded Pipe and Fittings 
    • Install process Tubing and Fittings 
    • Inspect and repair electrical and hydraulic valve actuators
  • Performing routine pipeline maintenance:
    • Inspect and Evaluate Buried Pipe 
    • Launch and Receive Pigging Tools 
    • Monitor Installation of Pipeline Crossings
  • Conducting emergency one-calls, line locates, and onsite excavation third party.
  • Maintaining Pipeline Right of Way.
  • Maintaining Pipeline Markers and Signs.
  • Inspecting, Operating and Maintaining Valves.
  • Assist in the DOT compliance work with the Pipeline Integrity Dept.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job country
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Willing and able to drive up to 40% of the time using a company vehicle in support of assigned work locations
  • Must live/relocate within 45 minutes of the assigned reporting sites
  • 2 or more years of experience in NGL pipeline operations
  • Able to read and comprehend technical procedures, and / or governmental regulations.
  • Willing and able to perform and comply with the following, with or without reasonable accommodation:
    • Lift up to 50 pounds
    • Occasionally exerts pulling force of 130 pounds
    • Regularly stoops, squats, kneels and crouches for durations up t30 minutes
    • Occasionally may climb A-frame ladders
    • Periodically pulls/pushes doors open to move around the gas plant
    • Works extended hours (Overtime) as required by operational commitments, which may include evenings, weekends and holidays
    • Be able to be placed on a rotational on-call schedule and be available for after hours callouts.
    • Works safely near large, hot, high-speed machines
    • Work inside gas plant conditions as well as in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity
    • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel-toe shoes, ear and eye protection) 
    • Maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven), as required by work locations

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 4 or more years of applicable experience on NGL Pipeline Operations
  • 4 or more years of damage prevention experience (one-calls, encroachments, crossings, excavations, ROW patrols)
  • 4 or more years of experience working as an I&E Technician
  • Licensed Electrician in the state of Texas
