The Offsites Shift Supervisor is responsible for providing safe, compliant, reliable, and efficient operation for the Offsites Operating Department.

 

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Be a safety leader and promote and foster a zero-injury work environment.
  • Provide leadership to maintain an effective team within the department.      
  • Interact effectively in a leadership capacity with operators, other FLS’s, technical support, and maintenance personnel.
  • Support and lead personnel to achieve the short-term and long-term operating plans and the refinery business plan.
  • Be a good communicator and handle people's situations firmly yet respectfully.
  • Thoroughly investigate departmental incidents, accidents, near misses, and issues in an effective and timely manner.
  • Responsible for implementing refinery policies including personnel policies.
  • Be a focal point for issues (safety, environmental, production, etc.)
  • Responsible for overtime/scheduling issues and concerns.
  • Qualification and re-qualification of operators on shift.
  • Has lead role for upsets, emergency situations, startups, and shutdowns, and should be calm and professional under pressure; need to learn emergency response procedures and be able to lead the crew through proper handling of same.
  • On-Shift Incident Commander for the emergency response organization.
  • Able to help identify and prioritize maintenance work and ensure operating equipment is prepared in order to meet the maintenance plan, including audits of LOTO, permitting PPE, and Operator/craft job site visits.
  • Perform JSAs to promote safer work practices and improve safety awareness.
  • Conduct audits on all shift permits, providing effective feedback to improve permit writing.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Three years of refinery or similar industrial experience
  • Must be eligible to work in US without restrictions on a regular, full-time basis
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Willing to work 12-hr rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, holidays
  • Willing and able to work outside 12 months a year in extreme temperatures
  • Able to climb 200 feet within caged ladders
  • Able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs
  • Willing and able to serve on Emergency Response Team

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years of supervisory experience
  • Prior offsite operating experience

 

 

The Wood River Refinery is located in Roxana, Illinois, about 15 miles northeast of St. Louis, Missouri, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, low-sulfur; heavy, high sulfur; and high-acid crude oil. The crude supply is sourced domestically or from Canada. Wood River produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, asphalt and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers by pipeline, rail car, barge and truck and are shipped to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.

 

The base pay range for this role is $120,600 – $140,700 depending on a candidate's relevant work experience and education.
