What to Expect

As an Electrician, under the general direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for the preventive maintenance, repair, and replacement of industrial electrical equipment and systems in the Refinery.

What You’ll Do

  • Installation, testing, and commissioning of new or repaired electrical equipment.
  • Ensuring all electrical equipment and systems support the operating requirements in all areas including safety, quality, productivity, capacity and reliability daily.
  • Required to troubleshoot and solve electrical problems safely following safe work practices and using the appropriate tools and personal protective equipment.
  • Use of the computer maintenance management system for equipment documentation information.

 

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Possess valid driver’s license
  • Must be at least 18 years of age 
  • 5 years or more of industrial electrician work experience
  • Required to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC).  Note, information regarding TWIC qualification standards may be found at https://www.tsa.gov/for-industry/twic
  • Willing and able to, with or without reasonable accommodations:
    • Work overtime, weekends, holidays, and varied shifts when required
    • Climb ladders and/or stairs 
    • Climb a minimum of 100 feet within caged ladder
    • Lift up to 50 pounds
    • Perform work below grade (sumps) and in confined spaces
    • Perform work at heights
    • Bend, stoop, and lift
    • Perform work in sometimes hazardous conditions that require special personal protective equipment
    • Work in all weather conditions 
    • Wear personal protective equipment such as, but not limited to, hardhat, safety glasses, eye protection, goggles, fire retardant clothing, steel toed boots, gloves, gas monitor, etc.  
    • Perform work in sometimes hazardous conditions that require special personal protective equipment
    • Maintain face daily (clean shaven) so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • Associates degree in electrical
  • Work experience with low to medium voltage motors, motor control circuits, and variable speed drives.
  • Familiar with NEC requirements for hazardous locations
  • Familiar with the use and compliance of the NEC and NFPA 70E
  • Beginner or greater proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and SAP

 

Compensation and other info:  

  • The pay rate for this position is $51.57 per hour. Pay and future pay changes are determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • The anticipated start date for this position is February 2026.
  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.

 

The Wood River Refinery is located in Roxana, Illinois, about 15 miles northeast of St. Louis, Missouri, at the confluence of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrocracking, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, low-sulfur; heavy, high sulfur; and high-acid crude oil. The crude supply is sourced domestically or from Canada. Wood River produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, asphalt and petroleum coke. Refined products are distributed to customers by pipeline, rail car, barge and truck and are shipped to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
