As a Sr Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of critical fixed and rotating equipment that powers our operations. What You’ll Do

  • Lead the planning, design, and implementation of mechanical solutions for fixed & rotating equipment such as pressure vessels, piping, heat exchangers, tanks, and pump compressors.
  • Lead Management of Change (MOC) stewardship by ensuring all process, equipment, and procedural changes are properly evaluated, documented, and approved in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Analyze complex engineering challenges, develop and refine equipment specifications, and oversee installation, operation, and maintenance activities to ensure reliability and compliance.
  • Manage technical troubleshooting projects, conduct root cause analyses, and recommend improvements to enhance equipment performance and lifecycle management.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings, guide major equipment rebuilds, and deliver small- to medium-scale projects in collaboration with inspection, operations, maintenance, and project teams.
  • Serve as a technical resource for the site, providing expertise in mechanical integrity assessments and supporting investigations into equipment failures.
  • Facilitate the adoption of new technologies and best practices, participate in professional society activities, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
  • Develop and review repair plans, support the Mechanical Integrity Team, and ensure all team members and contractors are properly trained.
  • Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and technical excellence to drive the reliability and performance of refinery assets while supporting broader organizational goals.

 

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC)
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodations, to comply with the following:
    • Travel up to 5%
    • Operate company vehicle on site premises and/or public roads up to 25%
    • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional duties.
    • Transport articles up to 50 pounds
    • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
    • Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions.
    • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment.
    • Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal. (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
    • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an Engineering discipline
  • 3 or more years of engineering experience in the energy industry

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • 5 or more years of experience working as a Mechanical or Maintenance Engineer at a refinery.
  • Working knowledge of:
    • SAP
    • Equity Engineering Plant Manager
    • PCMS
    • API-RBI Software
    • API 579
    • API 571
    • ASME B31.3
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook Suite (Outlook Email, Word, and Excel programs)

 

 

Compensation Range:

  • $137,700 - $168,300 annual base salary

 

 The Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex is a state-of-the-art facility processing renewable feedstocks (waste oils, fats, greases, and vegetable oils) to produce vital transportation fuels, including renewable diesel and sustainable aviation fuels for California, Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia. The Rodeo facility has been providing energy and improving lives since 1896. The conversion from crude oil to renewable feedstocks was completed in early 2024, enabling the production of lower carbon-intensity transportation fuels. The converted facility reduces lifecycle carbon emissions by approximately 65% — the equivalent of taking 1.4 million cars off California roads each year. The Rodeo Renewable Energy Complex is Fueling the Future of the next generation of cutting-edge liquid fuels production and beyond.
