What to Expect

As an Operations Supervisor II, you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and team performance. In this dynamic position, you’ll be at the heart of refinery operations, guiding a skilled team through the challenges and rewards of producing high-quality fuels and specialty products. You’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on safety, efficiency, and collaboration, while working alongside dedicated professionals in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and coordinate a team of shift operators to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality production across multiple shifts.
  • Guide your team in executing daily operational plans, monitoring performance indicators, and maintaining compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Develop work schedules, allocate resources, and oversee equipment preparation for maintenance to achieve production goals.
  • Support a culture of accountability and continuous improvement by coaching team members and providing input on performance.
  • Foster open communication to keep everyone aligned and motivated.
  • Serve as a resource and mentor, partnering with supervisors and other departments to optimize operations and resolve challenges.
  • Administer labor contracts and manage administrative tasks such as payroll and incident reporting.
  • Coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and optimization teams to ensure effective operations.
  • Supervise emergency response efforts and contribute to data and analytics reporting.
  • Support ongoing compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements, promoting safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

 

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Willing and able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License
  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodations, to comply with the following:
    • Travel up to 5%
    • Operate company vehicle on site premises and/or public roads up to X%
    • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional duties.
    • Transport articles up to 50 pounds
    • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
    • Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions
    • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment
    • Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 or more years of operations experience in the Energy industry
  • 1 or more years of supervisory experience

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • 5 or more years of experience in the oil & gas industry, specifically refining
  • 3 or more years of experience in coordinating or managing a major unit turnaround
  • Knowledge of safe work practices 

 

Compensation Range

This position has a base salary range of $124,200 - $151,800

Where a candidate offer falls within the posted range depends on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s requirements. The Ponca City Refinery is located in Ponca City, Oklahoma, approximately 95 miles northwest of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Its facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of light, medium and heavy crude oil delivered via pipeline from Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, the U.S. Rockies and Canada. Infrastructure improvements have enabled the delivery of locally produced crude oil by pipeline and truck. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels and anode-grade petroleum coke. Refined products are primarily distributed to customers by company-owned and common carrier pipelines to markets throughout the Midcontinent region.
