Global Product Control Lead

Basic Function

Reporting to Manager, Global Product Control, the incumbent is responsible for the management of the London based product control team.  Key elements of the role involve ensuring timely and accurate production and evaluation of daily risk, exposure and profit and loss reports.  Responsibilities also include identifying portfolio risk exposure, monitoring hedging and physical cargo exposure and explaining daily PNL and earnings drivers.  The incumbent will be required to develop and implement best practice daily risk reporting processes.  The Europe Product Control Lead will also be responsible for the development of Risk reporting systems and associated business processes and focused on aligning local practices with global reporting models and risk assessment philosophies.

Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Regional commodity lead responsible for the preparation and publication of daily profit/loss and exposure reports from the system of record.
  • Manage the daily work schedule and organization of the London based risk analyst team.
  • Coach/mentor risk analysts supporting other commodity groups in the review, analysis and preparation of daily risk reports and associated performance analysis.
  • Review the consolidated end of day performance report and authorise publication of results to the global trading organisation.
  • Support the preparation and submission of global reports i.e. drawdown analysis, global cargo reporting, VaR reviews.
  • Develop strong networks with risk commodity leads in other regions to drive within function process change and daily reporting alignment initiatives, locally and globally. 
  • Work across functions within region on projects focused on improving business processes and the quality of performance reporting. 
  • Ensure accuracy of core data such as price feeds, curves and prod/loc set ups into systems of record.

Critical Skills/Leadership Criteria

  • 10+ years relevant commodity experience, leadership experience preferred but not essential.
  • Hold the legal right to live and work in the United Kingdom without restrictions or the role you are applying for meets the criteria for employer sponsorship.
  • Very strong spreadsheet capability in MS Excel and exposure to visual basic would be of an advantage.
  • Strong mathematical skills in terms of analysis of complex data to be able to draw clear and accurate conclusions.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills with preference for action, accountability, and developing alternatives and solutions.
  • Broad understanding of the marine transportation business required, including marine logistics, chartering, commodity trading and scheduling, optimization, and marine strategy.  Knowledge and experience of commodity trading including swaps, options and other derivative products would be of an advantage.
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities.
  • Ability to lead effectively through influence and capability to influence at all levels.
  • Able to work in both a local/dynamic small team and as part of a global team.
  • Strong desire for personal learning and sharing of skills with others.

 

Phillips 66 has significant marketing operations in Europe. In the UK the business is primarily wholesale, selling fuels to distributors (some of whom are branded JET) and resellers. The fuels are either collected by customers or delivered through a contracted road tanker fleet operating out of a number of UK distribution points. In addition, Phillips 66 Limited supplies a network of approximately 330 independently owned petrol forecourts, all of which are branded JET.

 

Other markets served are aviation, marine and LPG. JET supplies some of the UK's growing secondary airports using owned and shared refuelling tankers and storage, and delivers to airlines through contracted refuelling operations. Marine markets are served using contracted vehicles, as is the LPG business.
