Basic Function
The Contracts Management Group provides contractual support to the European Commercial and UK Marketing businesses. We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded contract professional to join our team, supporting the business across a broad range of UK Marketing industry‑specific agreements. This role is suited to an individual with at least five years’ experience in contract review and negotiation, who is comfortable drafting and negotiating agreements independently and overseeing timely execution. Additional duties involve supporting contract-related projects and driving performance improvements that align with corporate strategy. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders and Legal, providing practical and timely contract support across multiple business functions.
Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Contract Drafting, Review and Negotiation
- Independently draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including but not limited to industry specific sale and supply agreements; bespoke commercial contracts; industry standard terms (e.g. UK Marketing Supply, Wholesale & Retail and other energy sector standard form agreements).
- Prepare initial drafts and mark ups for review by internal stakeholders and legal, identifying key legal and commercial risks.
- Ensure contracts accurately reflect agreed commercial positions and comply with company policies, procedures and applicable legal requirements.
- Ensure timely execution, administration and ongoing management of contracts.
Contract Management & Stakeholder Support
- Communicate and coordinate with internal partners to ensure all contract matters are progressed efficiently and completed within required timeframes.
- Act as a point of contact for contract related queries from the business.
Compliance, Records and Governance
- Maintain accurate contract files and document records, ensuring all contract related documentation is stored in a timely and compliant manner within the designated system of record.
Process Improvement & Reporting
- Identify, develop and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and optimise contract management processes.
- Prepare ad hoc reports, summaries and data analysis as requested.
Project Support
- Provide strategic and operational project support as directed by management.
Critical Skills
- Hold the legal right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis without restrictions, or the role you are applying for meets the criteria for employer sponsorship
- Bachelor’s degree in law or other relevant discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a contract review, drafting and negotiation role.
- Experience managing multiple agreement types across different areas of the business.
- Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Highly organised and ability to prioritise workload to deliver against tight deadlines.
- Notable relationship building capability, with strong interpersonal and networking skills
