Advanced IT/OT Analyst, Bayway Refinery

The Advanced IT/OT Analyst, Bayway Refinery role blends elements of a Business System Analyst (BSA), IT System Administrator, and technical specialist to manage and support IT equipment critical to reliable operation of the manufacturing process. This role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing systems and applications management, system cybersecurity, and efforts to engineer and implement new technologies to enable and support digital transformation. Core responsibilities include configuring and maintaining virtual and physical servers and workstations, managing and monitoring network routers and switches, and administrating Windows Domains. Advanced knowledge of industrial control systems and their management will be required, so training will be provided where necessary. The role will work closely with key site teams, including operations and process control groups, and will participate in corporate knowledge sharing and support teams (such as the Refining Process Control Network and the Refining Cybersecurity Network), so teamwork and collaboration with others are important for success. Critical analysis, self-motivation, and the ability to deliver IT solutions are key to this role.
 
Responsibilities May Include:

  • Collaborating closely with the business’s industrial control system support group.
  • Planning and managing hardware refresh.
  • Planning and managing potentially disruptive activities in the production ICS environment.
  • Planning and managing corporate required cybersecurity-related activities in the ICS environment.
  • Resolving service delivery issues for support of control systems infrastructure.
  • Optimizing IT service delivery by improving reliability, efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness of defined components of services while following required engineering standards and safety practices.
  • Maintaining documentation of supported systems.
  • Seeking, recommending, and delivering cost-effective value-add opportunities.
  • Assisting with the business’s budget development.
  • Coordinating resources and suppliers to complete projects and work requests.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School diploma or GED 
  • 3 or more years of experience in an applicable Information Technology discipline
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills for direct customer interaction
  • Proven ability to master and apply advanced and specialized technical training
  • Proven ability to work well with business, and local and remote IT resources
  • Proven ability to deliver on commitments
  • Proven ability and willingness to provide day-to-day and after-hours support (24x7) as appropriate
  • Ability to lift and move computers, servers, and other small network devices

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in MIS, Computer Science, engineering, or related area
  • 5 or more years of experience in Information Technology discipline
  • 3 or more years of experience managing Cisco Catalyst switches
  • 3 or more years of experience in Windows Domain System Administration
  • 3 or more years of experience configuring and maintaining VMware ESXi cluster
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Experience managing an Enterprise Backup Solution
  • Possess a good understanding of Firewall principles and system security
  • Experience with system management applications
  • Managing and maintaining a wireless network in an enterprise environment
  • Manage, update, and maintain antivirus patching software and distribution
  • Basic understanding of scripting and Reports to generate Data for Routine Tasks
  • Ability to influence individuals and groups
  • Ability to create an environment of inclusiveness and foster communication
  • Ability to engender trust and confidence
  • Active learner with good business knowledge

The Bayway Refinery is located on the New York Harbor in Linden, New Jersey. Bayway's facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, solvent deasphalting, hydrodesulfurization and alkylation units. The complex also includes a polypropylene plant with the capacity to produce up to 775 million pounds per year. The refinery processes mainly light and medium, low-sulfur crude oil. Foreign crude oil is supplied to the refinery by tanker, and domestic crude oil is supplied through a combination of rail and marine transportation. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petrochemical feedstocks, residual fuel oil and home heating oil. Refined products are distributed to East Coast customers by pipeline, barge, rail car and truck.
