What to Expect
The Sr. Electrical Engineer II, Projects provides leadership, technical expertise, and business perspective in all areas related to refinery electrical systems. As a member of the corporate engineering projects team, this role will be involved in a variety of projects, including capital project execution, engineering, procurement, and construction. This role ensures projects are technically sound and that they achieve safety, reliability, and environmental objectives and are consistent with PSM management of change. This position is based in Houston with travel to refineries, engineering contractors, and equipment supplier locations required.
What You’ll Do
- Work at an advanced level to ensure adherence to company and industry engineering standards.
- Stay current and proficient with relevant electrical codes and practices.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to drive continuous improvement and reliability of electrical components, equipment, and systems.
- Support designs, cost estimates, and management of projects working together with an EPC contractor.
- Provide technical guidance to ensure electrical system design is executed in an effective, timely, and cost-efficient manner.
- Ensure project scope and cost is controlled and change is managed.
- Provide technical expertise for design and procurement of equipment, including power distribution systems, motors, motor controls, switch gear, UPS systems, and substations.
- Provide technical support for factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning and start-up of electrical systems.
- Drive a culture of innovation by creating multistakeholder solutions that boost creativity, innovation, and collaboration. Participate in refining electrical reliability network and, occasionally if supported by business need, industry technical societies.
- Promote the management and development of standards, best practices, and guidelines for electrical systems with both corporate and site staff.
What You’ll Bring – Required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline
- 5 or more year(s) of engineering experience in refining, petrochemicals, or a similar industry
- Willing and able to travel approximately 25% of the time to field locations
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering
- 15 or more years of project engineering experience
- Experience and understanding of plant maintenance, operations, and project execution practices
- Experience working with Engineering Contractors on Projects
- Factory acceptance testing and field construction support experience
Compensation Range
- $155,700 to $190,300
