The Sr Advisor II, AI Architect designs and deploys enterprise-grade AI solutions that align with Phillips 66’s business and technology objectives. This hybrid position combines architectural leadership with hands-on engineering expertise, ensuring AI systems are secure, scalable, and compliant with company policies. The role requires close collaboration between AI Engineering and Cloud Platform, Cloud Security, CloudOps, and other foundational teams and business units to deliver AI solutions across a multi-cloud environment.
What You’ll Do
Architectural Design & Governance
- Design and review AI solution architectures to ensure compliance with Phillips 66
- security, governance, and cloud policies.
- Provide expert guidance to AI Engineers during architectural reviews and design
- sessions, including projects for clients from other business units.
- Establish and standardize AI architectural patterns for scalable, enterprise-wide
- adoption.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Provide Technical Leadership in AI Engineering initiatives requiring architectural
- direction and cross-team coordination.
- Act as a liaison between AI Engineering and Cloud Platform, Cloud Security,
- CloudOps, and enterprise architecture teams to ensure seamless integration and operational alignment.
- Provide consultation and architectural reviews for AI Engineers as they partner with product managers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into AI solutions.
- Conduct technical deep dives and design reviews to ensure alignment with enterprise architecture strategies.
Engineering & Implementation
- Deploy applications and AI services to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), ensuring high availability and resilience.
- Develop scalable AI-driven services and integration APIs to operationalize AI models within enterprise systems.
- Implement Azure API Management (APIM) for secure and scalable API exposure of AI solutions.
- Build and manage Azure DevOps pipelines for both infrastructure automation and AI model deployment workflows.
- Optimize AI workloads for multi-cloud environments (AWS and Azure) to balance cost, performance, and scalability.
Monitoring & Optimization
- Implement observability frameworks to monitor model performance, API reliability, and infrastructure health.
- Continuously improve AI solutions through feedback loops, retraining strategies, and cost/performance optimization.
What You’ll Bring - Required
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- High School Diploma or GED
- 6 or more years of engineering / technological architecture experience
- Strong understanding of AI Engineering, including model development, deployment, and operationalization
- Strong expertise in multi-cloud environments, especially AWS and Azure
- Intermediate proficiency with API Management (APIM) and Kubernetes Service for managing and deploying scalable AI solutions
- Hands-on experience with backend development and containerized deployments on AKS
- Advanced proficiency in DevOps, including building CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure and application deployment
- Experience with AI/ML frameworks and MLOps tooling
- Experience with Python, JavaScript, and Bash scripting
- Advanced proficiency in containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes
- Solid understanding of cloud security, compliance frameworks, and enterprise governance policies
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or any other engineering discipline
- 10 or more years of experience in engineering roles
- 5 or more years in cloud technologies (AWS, Azure)
- 2 or more years in AI-focused roles involving AI/ML solutions and architecture
- Experience working with Databricks
- Experience with Generative AI (LLMs, diffusion models) and cloud-native AI deployments
- Understanding of AI ethics, responsible AI principles, and secure API practices
Compensation Range
This position has a base salary range of $155,700 - $190,300.
