The Senior Advisor I, LP Modeler analyzes complex economic and operational data to evaluate crude values, optimize refinery crude slates, and deliver actionable insights that improve full value chain performance. The role works closely with Commercial, Trading, and Refining partners to ensure LP models reflect current operations and market conditions.
What You’ll Do
- Analyze refinery economics using LP models to evaluate crude opportunities and determine relative crude values and breakeven economics.
- Develop optimization scenarios that support crude purchasing and trading decisions.
- Prepare and publish recurring economic and LP-based deliverables, including monthly relative crude value reports.
- Perform ad hoc economic and LP studies in support of business initiatives and decision-making.
- Maintain and enhance refinery LP models to ensure alignment with site-specific configurations, operational constraints, and operating strategies.
- Partner closely with Refining Planning & Economics, Commercial Crude Supply, and Trading teams to communicate refinery economic drivers and constraints.
- Provide market and economic insights that inform regional and enterprise-wide optimization decisions.
What You’ll Bring – Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent level of education
- 3 or years of relevant experience in economic analysis, LP modeling, refinery economics, operations, or related analytical roles
- Direct experience developing, maintaining, or using linear programming models to support business or operational decisions
- Intermediate proficiency with analytical, statistical, and business intelligence tools; strong computer skills including Microsoft Office applications
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Travel up to 5% of the time
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- Experience with refinery LP tools such as AspenTech PIMS or similar optimization platforms
- Prior experience in crude selection, refinery optimization, trading support, or value chain economics
- Knowledge of downstream value chain drivers, refinery operations, and market fundamentals
- Experience with scheduling, blending, or refinery planning models and systems
- Programming or advanced analytics experience using tools such as Python, R, SQL, or VBA
- Strong stakeholder influence skills and the ability to lead or contribute to cross-functional initiatives
- Strong analytical, data interpretation, and quantitative modeling skills, with the ability to translate insights into actionable recommendations
- Ability to collaborate effectively across Commercial, Trading, and Refining teams and communicate complex information clearly
Compensation Range
This position has a base salary range of $136,800 - $167,200.
