Operational Technology, Cyber Security Specialist

Reporting to the Director, OT Cyber Security, the Operational Technology, Cyber Security Specialist  will work very closely with the Midstream Business’s Operations and Automation teams to provide control system support and improve and maintain OT Networks to enhance the cybersecurity program objectives. This role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing selected OT network maintenance and project activities, vulnerability monitoring, as well as operational support. Primary support activities may include: configuring and maintaining switches, routers, and Ethernet network infrastructure (wired and wireless), OT network architecture design and implementation, using selected applications to monitor and troubleshoot vulnerabilities and performance, and ensuring compliance for OT Cyber security. Advanced knowledge of control systems environments and their maintenance will be required. The role will participate in applicable support networks in the business (such as the Midstream Cybersecurity Network). This role will provide broad exposure to the IT/OT aspects of industrial control system support.

 

Position can be based in Houston, TX, or the Bartlesville, OK office.


Responsibilities May Include:

  • Collaborating closely with the business’s Automation and Operations team.
  • Facilitate/Participate in Tabletop Cybersecurity Exercises.
  • Planning and managing network hardware refresh.
  • Maintenance and installation of system monitoring tools and utilities.
  • Resolving service delivery issues for support of control systems infrastructure.
  • Optimizing IT/OT service delivery by improving reliability, efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness of defined components of services while following required cyber security policies, engineering standards, and safety practices.
  • Manage security for Operational Technology Network Infrastructure (e.g. data, systems, network, and/or other applications).
  • Assist with internal cybersecurity gap analysis spot audits based on internal Cybersecurity Policies and provide support in the development of corrective action plans as well as implementation. 
  • Review and maintenance of required documentation and drawings for supported systems.
  • Seeking, recommending, and delivering cost-effective value-add opportunities.
  • Learn and apply advanced and specialized technical training.
  • Ability to assist cross-functionally as required with Windows OS and AD management, cyber security tools management and installation, patch management, and automation support.
  • Assisting with the business’s budget development and long-range plan.
  • Coordinating resources and suppliers to complete project and work requests.
  • Provide operational support for risk management, vulnerability management, regulatory compliance, and policy implementation and mentor staff to develop skillsets around OT Networking.
  • Must be able to successfully and simultaneously manage multiple tasks, and work with minimal direct supervision.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5 or more years of experience in an applicable Operational Technology or Information Technology discipline supporting IT/OT networking and/or infrastructure
  • Familiarity with one of the Industrial control systems platforms (Rockwell Automation, GE, Modicon, Siemens, etc.)
  • Familiarity with one of theIndustrial networking protocols (Enet/IP, CIP, OPC, Modbus, etc.)
  • Familiarity with one of the OT vulnerability monitoring tools (Claroty, Nazomi, or others)
  • Experience with IT infrastructure configuration and maintenance for VMware, Microsoft Windows, Active Directory administration, Firewall administration (Checkpoint, Cisco, or others)
  • Experience managing cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure or others)
  • Experience with AV applications (Trellix, Crowdstrike, Windows Defender, or others)
  • Experience in the design, implementation, and maintenance of ethernet networks
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity standards (NIST, ISA, or others) and regulations (TSA, Coast Guard, or others) 
  • Ability and willingness to provide day-to-day and after-hours support (24x7) as appropriate
  • Travel is required and expected to be 40 percent across a broad geographic region

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in MIS, Computer Science, or Engineering
  • 15 or more years of broad experience in Operational Technology or Information Technology discipline including advanced networking, network security, operating system and application installation/maintenance, anti-virus, and monitoring tools and utilities
  • Demonstrated experience working with interdisciplinary groups (Operations, HSE, Projects)
  • Familiarity or experience in the Oil and Gas industry, especially Midstream
  • Broad understanding of technologies used in the OT space (Controls, Measurement, Power)
  • Professional certifications with Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, ISC2, etc
