The New Business Development Manager (NBDM) is responsible for driving the revenue growth of the Phillips 66 Chemicals business. This role is accountable for translating long term trends into future market needs and developing and executing business development and go-to-market plans of its growth portfolio to capture the value within the future market environment.
The role requires frequent interaction with various internal groups, including Sales, Marketing, Strategy, R&D, Chief Economist and Business Services, as well as external groups, including brand-owners, OEMs, Equipment Manufacturers, NGOs, customers and market analysts. The NBDM is typically focused on identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, developing strategic partnerships and driving long term revenue growth.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Market Research and Analysis: Conducting market research, focused on the longer term, to identify trends and new business opportunities within the chemicals industry as well as monitoring competitive landscape and market dynamics to inform strategic decisions
- Value Chain Management: Building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders within the various value chains to identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Sales and Revenue Growth: Developing a robust business opportunity pipeline in line with company goals through prospecting, networking, and relationship building. Developing and implementing go-to-market strategies to achieve the revenue targets of the opportunities identified in the opportunity pipeline. Where needed, negotiate contracts and close deals with key value chain members.
- Sustainability: Within the above mentioned context, a focused approach on identifying and executing sustainability improvement opportunities for the Phillips 66 Chemicals business in line with the Group’s strategy, thereby leveraging corporate sustainability initiatives.
- Product Development and Innovation: Collaborating with R&D and manufacturing teams to develop new products and applications that meet future market requirements. Provide feedback on product performance and market requirements.
- Performance tracking: Monitoring and reporting on market trends and on sales performance of newly launched products/businesses
- Content Creation: Collaborating with content creators to produce marketing materials such as brochures, videos, and social media posts
- Product Launches: Planning and managing product launches, including coordinating with sales, PR, PMM, and other departments
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring all products, marketing materials and strategies comply with industry regulations and standards
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- 5 or more years of prior business development or other commercial related experience in preferably Petrochemical or Oil & Gas products
- 2 or more years of experience in a role equivalent field (strategy, value chain management, sales, marketing and/or product management)
- 1 or more years of direct experience working with Influence Management, including conflict resolution and the ability to lead both internal/external resources to achieve goals
- Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to travel up to 50% of the time, nationally and internationally
- Advanced proficiency at gathering and interpreting data from multiple sources, developing economics, and drawing sound conclusions that drive business results
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with advanced data analytics tools (Tableau, CDL, Business Objects, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Science or Math
- Knowledge of petrochemical industry, its markets and the various applications for petrochemicals use and their value chains
- Critical and strategic thinking skills to enable the identification or creation of new opportunities and to challenge status quos
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth
- Good overall understanding of Sales, Marketing, Pricing, Transportation and/or Commercial operations
- Demonstrate measurable results while working independently, with minimal supervision and direction
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
- Results oriented with focus on continuous improvement
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills using formulas, lookups, arrays, graphs, macros and pivot tables for data manipulation
- Self-directed with strong organizational and project management skills
- Experience in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, to ensure common understanding
- Previous experience as a team-oriented contributor who can effectively elevate the performance of teammates through positive interaction and informal leadership
