What to Expect

We are seeking an accomplished legal leader to serve as Managing Counsel for Antitrust & Complex Litigation, driving strategic outcomes across high-impact matters. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert legal guidance on antitrust matters, investigations, complex litigation, joint ventures, and mergers & acquisitions. You will play a critical part in navigating high-impact legal challenges, developing innovative strategies, and supporting key business objectives in a fast-paced and evolving environment. The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of antitrust experience, preferably in-house and corporate settings, with a strong background in litigation.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and manage complex antitrust litigation and regulatory matters, including strategy development, case management, and resolution
  • Specialized expertise in antitrust law, including review of corporate activity under the Hart Scott Rodino Act, advice and counseling on anticompetitive conduct and pricing
  • Advise on legal aspects of joint ventures, mergers, acquisitions, and related transactions, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation
  • Conduct thorough legal analysis to build strong positions and cases, often in areas with limited precedent
  • Build trusted relationships with senior executives, providing authoritative advice to guide policy, projects, and change initiatives
  • Develop and deliver clear, effective communications for both internal stakeholders and external parties
  • Establish and implement standards for legal documentation and quality assurance processes
  • Lead and manage all phases of complex litigation, including case strategy, discovery, trial preparation, and resolution, ensuring effective advocacy and favorable outcomes for the organization
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices through ongoing professional development
  • Supervise and mentor junior attorneys

 

What You’ll Bring (Required Qualifications)

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Attorney with 15 years of legal experience, including 10+ years of specialized expertise in antitrust law, including review of corporate activity under the Hart Scott Rodino Act, advice and counseling on anticompetitive conduct and pricing
  • 10+ years of experience supervising legal teams or mentoring junior attorneys
  • Demonstrated success managing and resolving complex litigation matters, including antitrust and securities litigation
  • Experience and competence managing government investigations
  • Agility and growth mindset to handle advice and matters adjacent to primary practice areas
  • Experience practicing inside a corporate legal department  
  • Strong understanding of oil & gas or energy industry legal issues
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey complex legal concepts to diverse audiences

 

What Makes You Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Prior work experience in a government agency and/or law firm related to the required practice areas
  • Familiarity with the oil and gas and pipeline industry, including its regulatory requirements, or prior experience in a similarly competitive and compliance-driven sector.
  • Ability to develop long-term legal strategies aligned with business goals
  • Relevant certifications in antitrust, litigation, or energy law

 

Compensation Range: 

$266,400 - $325,600 annual base salary
