The Latin America Fuel Oil Trader will work in our Houston, TX HQ office.
Responsibilities May Include
- Pro-actively identify, develop, and implement trading strategies to capture value from Latin America fuel oil markets.
- Cultivate & enhance targeted counter-party relationships to expand Phillips 66 market presence and increase trading potential.
- Negotiate with counter-party traders & brokers to successfully conclude fuel oil transactions.
- Establish and manage a Heavy Oil storage and blending operation in the Caribbean basin.
- Work with traders from Phillips 66 trading offices across the globe as part of the global trading teams.
Required Qualifications
- Legally authorized to work in the posting country
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 5 or more years of physical heavy oil trading experience
- This role requires participation on global trading teams which requires the willingness to work various hours to manage communication across the globe -some travel required (20-30%)
- Knowledge/understanding of the international energy markets
- Understanding of risk/hedging tools to manage underlying positions
- Ability to interface effectively with internal and external customers, counterparties, suppliers, and consultants
- Collaborative team player with ability to work constructively within a very close and often demanding team-working environment, and interact well with other parts of the group
- Self-starter with desire to grow a business and develop their own role within it
- Very strong interpersonal and networking skills
- Proven ability to make real-time commercial decisions that have a significant financial impact both independently and as part of the trading team
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven ability to add significant value through trading or marketing expertise markets, preferably with experience of trading physical and financial products.
- Practical experience of fuel oil or products operations.
- Knowledge/ experience of marine issues pertaining to the movement of crude or products.
- Understanding of the characteristics of products and processes in terms of oil refining, including an appreciation of specifications worldwide supply and demand economics.
The Commercial organization works to effectively leverage assets and market knowledge to create additional value within the risk parameters of the Company. We do this by maximizing general interest profitability, enhancing return on capital employed by successfully partnering with the Refining, Transportation and Marketing functions to ensure Value Chain Integration. Our truck and rail fleets support our feedstock and distribution operations. Rail movements are provided via a fleet of more than 10,000 owned and leased rail cars. Truck movements are provided through numerous third-party trucking companies, as well as through our 100 percent-owned subsidiary, Sentinel Transportation LLC.
