What To Expect:
The Facility Building Engineer monitors daily operation and performs preventative maintenance on equipment located at the Houston site. Some of the processes involved use hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure. Facility Building Engineers are exposed to various work conditions including outside weather and elements, blowing air, heat, noise, vibration and occasionally working from heights or confined spaces. Facility Building Engineers must follow safe work practices at all times and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required. Operations are run 24 hours per day, seven days per week. This position has a wide range of responsibilities and opportunities to grow within the role.The Facility Building Engineer will be reporting to Houston,TX office.
What You'll Do:
- Be responsible for your own safety and the safety of your co-workers at all times with the responsibility to notify co-workers and supervisors of safety issues immediately
- Complete job specific training as assigned and always demonstrate responsible safe operation of plant and equipment
- Maintain central plant in a state of readiness. Able to start up, shutdown and maintain in good working order
- Be familiar with Chill Water Plant operations and be able to assist in the daily operation
- Troubleshoot problems within central plant and building systems
- Be a first responder to many types of building maintenance calls
- Analyze complex tasks and consider safety at all times
- Ensure that PM work orders are completed within the month due, either by completing the orders themselves or with assistance from a contractor when additional help is needed to complete.
- Work rotating shifts as assigned
- Work weekends, nights and holidays
- Complete Phillips 66 safety training such as fire extinguisher hands on, process training, and many other safety related courses that will be assigned.
- Carry out PM work orders without direct supervision
- Become an active participant of the team to accomplish team goals
What You’ll Bring – Required:
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- High school diploma or G.E.D
- Have a valid Texas driver's license
- 3 or more years of experience in High Rise Building operations, including experience and in-depth knowledge of building systems, fire alarm systems, utility services and a service mentality.
- Knowledge of various equipment maintenance and operations such as chillers, compressors, controls, automated valves, general plant processes, automated control systems
- Experience with hand tools and hand tool safety
- Willingness and ability to perform and comply, with or without reasonable accommodation, with the following:
- Work rotating 12 hour shifts as assigned
- Work overtime when unscheduled needs occur
- Climb ladders
- Lifts materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Work in enclosed spaces
- Work near large, hot, high speed machines
- Work around chemicals
- Wear Fire Retardant Clothing and personal protective equipment such as safety eye wear, gloves, hard hat, hearing protection, steel-toe shoes.
- To maintain your face daily so that a respirator/face mask can seal properly (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)
- To work outside in harsh weather conditions
- Learn computer software associated with High Rise Building operations
- Occasional bending, squatting, kneeling or knee standing
- Walking varied distances
- Reaching in various planes maneuvering and working in tight spaces
- Repetitive arm tasks for opening and closing valves
- Climbing steps, vertical and inclined stairs and other structures
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred:
- Degree in Process Technology, Trade School (HVAC), or like areas
- Experience with Johnson Controls Metasys in relationship to power plants or central plant type environment
- Journeymen's license in appropriate related field of maintenance.
- Experience working in building maintenance or power plant operations
Compensation
This position has a starting hourly pay of $39.76. Hourly rate will depend on a candidate's relevant work experience and education.
