The Director, Specialty Solvents Marketing is responsible for managing business activities associated with the sale of products for the Phillips 66 Specialty Solvents Business.  This role is accountable for understanding price and supply/demand trends, cultivating customer relationships, and optimizing revenue contribution from all commercial sales contracts. This role is responsible for 30-50 sales accounts and ~$100MM in revenue annually.  This role requires frequent interaction with several internal groups, including Business Services, Refining, Legal, Treasury and Transportation.  

 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a customer base for an assigned region and/or customer assignments
  • Developing new customers and managing existing customer relationships 
  • Prospecting and developing new business opportunities to expand market share. Developing in-depth knowledge of solvent market structure and dynamics through key industry relationships
  • Identification and development of new strategic applications and channels for solvents demand
  • Negotiating and executing customer solvent sales contracts consistent within business strategy and operating plans 
  • Maintain accurate and timely Deal Capture information such as pricing and contract terms so that customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently. 
  • Monitor customer portfolios’ performance regularly to ensure targets are being met 
  • Assuming the lead role of customer interface for all commercial activities while Supporting Solvent Business Service group and other internal departments to manage order fulfillment processes 
  • Developing customer solutions in collaboration with Business Services, Refining, Legal, Treasury, Transportation and other functional areas as appropriate 
  • Work with Legal to update contracts as needed and input / maintain deals in SAP Deal Capture module
  • Stay abreast of the Solvent markets to ensure alignment across the Solvents portfolio. 
  • Must consolidate multiple data points to assess market conditions and changes as they occur. Then communicate these assessments throughout the organization so that stakeholder may react timely. 
  • Travelling up to 50% of the time

 

Requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular, full-time basis with no restrictions
  • A minimum of 5 years prior sales or related experience in Oil & Gas or Petrochemical products (fuels, solvents, polymers/plastics, chemicals)
  • At least two years of experience in sales or an equivalent field  
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to travel up to 50% of the time
  • Proficient at gathering and interpreting data from multiple sources, developing economics, and drawing sound conclusions that drive business results
  • Proven ability to positively interact and establish relationships with internal/external stakeholders, evaluate alternatives, and make decisions based on sound business criteria 
  • Minimum one year of direct experience working with Influence Management, including conflict resolution and the ability to lead both internal/external resources to achieve goals
  • Strong analytical skills with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint  
  • Self-directed with strong organizational skills 
  • Experience in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, to ensure common understanding
  • Previous experience as a team-oriented contributor who can effectively elevate the performance of teammates through positive interaction and informal leadership

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Science or Math 
  • Knowledge of petrochemical industry, solvent markets, and various applications for solvents use  
  • Good overall understanding of Marketing, Pricing, Transportation and/or Commercial operations
  • Demonstrate measurable results while working independently, with minimal supervision and direction 
  • Critical thinking skills to enable the identification or creation of new opportunities and to challenge status quos
  • Results oriented with focus on continuous improvement 
  • Experience with advanced data analytics tools (Tableau, CDL, Business Objects, etc.) 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills using formulas, lookups, arrays, graphs, macros and pivot tables for data manipulation

 

Midstream

 

Phillips 66's Midstream business is a safe, reliable and trusted logistics provider for the movement and storage of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 22,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
