Phillips 66 & YOU - Together we can fuel the future

As the ETRM Operations Director, you will lead the strategy, transformation, and day-to-day operations of our enterprise energy trading and risk management (ETRM) platform from business case through long-term run state. At Phillips 66, our commercial business relies on a modern, resilient trading platform to manage risk and capture market opportunities. You will partner with Commercial and Technology leaders to reduce delivery risk, retain critical institutional knowledge, and build a scalable operations organization that enables data‑driven trading across the company. This is a chance to shape a multi‑year digital transformation while owning the performance of an enterprise‑critical trading and risk platform.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the overall strategy and roadmap for ETRM operations, connecting platform, data, and process decisions to Commercial and enterprise objectives across transformation and steady‑state operations.
  • Partner with the ETRM transformation program to shape business cases, target operating models, system selection, integration design, and rollout sequencing, providing clear operational leadership and risk‑aware input.
  • Design and implement the future‑state ETRM operating model, including production support and service management, incident/change/release governance, vendor and managed services engagement, and operational KPIs, SLAs, and performance reporting.
  • Assume end‑to‑end accountability for ETRM platform stability, availability, performance, and operational risk, making timely, well‑judged decisions on incidents, changes, and improvements aligned with financial and control expectations.
  • Lead operational readiness and change activities across system and user testing, cutover, hypercare, and stabilization, guiding teams through ambiguity and adjusting plans as risks, priorities, and dependencies evolve.
  • Build, develop, and inspire a high‑performing, cohesive ETRM operations team by setting clear expectations, coaching and mentoring, strengthening succession coverage, and fostering a collaborative, inclusive culture across IT, Commercial, and vendor partners.
  • Engage and align senior stakeholders across trading, risk, scheduling, settlements, finance, and technology, balancing competing needs, resolving issues, and removing barriers to deliver end‑to‑end value from the platform.
  • Own business planning and governance for ETRM operations, including annual plans, budgets, resourcing, and continuous improvement initiatives that modernize enterprise architecture and embed digital capabilities.

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to travel up to 15%
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10 or more years of experience leading business systems within Oil and Gas, Trading, Energy supply chain and distribution
  • 10 or more years of people leadership experience managing teams and delivering against multi‑year objectives
  • Expert proficiency working with ETRM or trading platforms (e.g., RightAngle, Endur, or similar)

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • Master’s degree
  • Experience in energy trading, commodities, or financial trading environments
  • 15 or more years of progressive experience in business systems, IT, commercial technology or Energy supply chain and distribution roles
  • Leadership of major ETRM platform implementations and transformations, from target operating model design through go‑live and stabilization
  • Proven success building and leading cross‑functional, geographically dispersed teams that support mission‑critical platforms
  • Background in enterprise architecture, digital transformation, and modern service management practices
