The Commercial Analytics Director will lead the creation and enhancement of digital analytics, data visualization, business intelligence, and optimization solutions.  Utilizing reliable data, they will lead a team to drive actionable insights and foster data-driven innovation through the organization.  The right candidate will combine deep business and technical expertise to partner with business unit owners and leaders to ensure strategic alignment on roadmaps, prioritization, and execution of projects/priorities to achieve value capture. This role will manage the prioritization of business demand, own the backlog of analytics solutions and capabilities, and successfully deliver strategic analytics programs to maximize overall business value. The role is accountable for Data Innovation, Analytics and Insights to ensure that data is effectively leveraged across the enterprise as an asset and delivers measurable value.

 

This unique role provides the opportunity to work across the Commercial business value chain including Global Trading, Global Scheduling, Global Logistics, Global Commercial Risk, Commercial Trade Compliance, Global Market Analysis, and Commercial Finance.
 

Responsibilities May Include: 

  • Analytics and Insights: building and supporting analytics and reporting across BU's and for enterprise reporting that supports and influences business decisions 
  • Strategic Data Management: Enabling data usability, availability, accessibility, and efficiency for the seamless flow and access of trusted data and information 
  • Data Innovation: Partnering with various spoke teams, enterprise Data & Al and Data Science teams to deliver cost effective and reliable Analytics, Visualization, Machine Learning, Data Science, and Generative Artificial Intelligence that delivers value 
  • Data Quality & Governance: Advising, defining, monitoring, and governing the processes to ensure enterprise data is of high quality, secure, timely, consistent, and compliant
     

Required Qualifications: 

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country 
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field 
  • Intermediate proficiency in modern data technologies, architectural patterns, cloud-based solutions, and big data analytics platforms 
  • Extensive experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, Google Cloud, or AWS 
  • Experience in data and Al technologies, tools, and platforms, such as data engineering, data analytics, data visualization, machine learning, natural language processing, computer vision, etc. 
  • Business acumen and analytical skills, with the ability to understand the business needs, challenges and opportunities to translate them into data product/solutions 
  • Communication and presentation skills with the ability to articulate the product vision, value and roadmap to various audiences including senior leadership, business partners and end users 
     

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 7 or more years of experience in Data Analytics and Visualization, AI/ML - Power BI/Tableau/SAP BW/ Hana/Alteryx. Scripting languages like Python, Spark, Scala etc., SAP S/4 
  • 5 or more years of experience in agile product development and delivery 
  • 5 or more years of experience in leading digital innovation teams or similar roles 
  • 3 or more years of experience in the Oil & Gas or Manufacturing industry
  • Significant and relevant Oil & Gas or technical industry experience, especially Commercial and/or Logistics
  • Strong understanding of the deals-to-dollars oil & gas business processes
  • Strong understanding of commercial spot, term, and evergreen contracts for physical oil & gas commodities
  • Experience with pipeline, build/release, and CI/CD deployment of data pipelines (Azure DevOps, Git)  
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and manage their expectations and feedback 
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills, with the ability to drive the product development and delivery process and resolve issues and conflicts 
  • Strong customer focus and user empathy, with the ability to understand the user needs, pain points, and behaviors, and to design data and Al products that meet and exceed their expectations
  • Certification in product management, agile, or data and Al
