This role leads strategic business development efforts, shaping market participation strategies and advancing growth across emerging and traditional energy sectors. As a Director, Business Development, you will cultivate key partnerships, identify high‑value opportunities, and guide complex commercial initiatives from origination through execution.
What You’ll Do
- Drive strategic business development by identifying, evaluating, and structuring complex commercial opportunities, including alliances, collaborations, licensing, M&A, and long‑cycle capital projects.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to design tailored commercial and technical solutions that meet customer needs while managing commercial risk.
- Build and maintain senior‑level relationships with customers, partners, regulatory bodies, and key industry stakeholders to strengthen market presence and identify new opportunities.
- Develop market participation strategies across renewable fuels, hydrogen, CCS, pyoil, and other emerging energy sectors.
- Manage inbound opportunities across financial institutions, technology providers, and internal channels.
- Prepare and review economic analyses to prioritize initiatives based on value, risk, and strategic alignment.
- Coordinate resources across Finance, Legal, Operations, Tax, and other functions to ensure regulatory and operational alignment.
- Represent the business at major industry events to enhance visibility and advance strategic objectives.
What You’ll Bring – Required
- 6 or more years of business development and negotiation experience
- Advanced proficiency in managing complex commercial transactions across an industry such as energy, finance, or private equity
- Advanced proficiency in economic modeling and financial analysis
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Travel up to 5% of time
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred
- MBA or advanced degree
- 10 or more years of business development experience in the energy sector
- Demonstrated success leading commercial programs in hydrogen, CCS, renewable fuels, or related areas
- Experience structuring and negotiating complex contracts and partnership arrangements
- Strong industry network across emerging energy and low‑carbon technology sectors
- Experience working in build‑own‑operate commercial environments
- Experience guiding cross‑functional teams and managing senior‑level customer relationships
Compensation Range
This position has a base salary range of $214,200 - $261,800.

Where a candidate offer falls within the posted range depends on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
