Crude Position Coordinator

The Crude Oil Position Coordinator is a front office position within the Commercial trading organization that is responsible for monitoring and managing flat price hedges. The position works closely with Traders, Schedulers, and Risk to ensure the NYMEX futures position aligns with price exposure tied to physical positions and adjusts the futures position on a daily basis as exposure changes. The Position Coordinator monitors all internal transactions involving the Domestic Crude Strategies and ensures inhouse deals are entered promptly when required. The Coordinator also works with Trading, Scheduling, Accounting, Risk and F&PA to resolve discrepancies and improve deal entry accuracy.

 

Responsibilities May Include

  • Manage flat price exposure on physical positions by continuously monitoring the corresponding futures position 
  • Develop daily market order that is passed to the execution desk to buy or sell futures to maintain balanced physical and futures positions   
  • Manage Cushing Program and Supply Ratability Exposure
  • Track Company Domestic Sweet position during Cash Period
  • Determine NYMEX EFP positions at expiry
  • Coordinate with traders each month to manage and track expiry positions on the prompt NYMEX contract
  • Provide information to risk to assist in reconciling hedge activity from the previous day
  • Accountable for the posting and coordinating of all EFPs with NYMEX broker before expiry
  • Coordinate with Finance and Accounting on questions regarding accounting and assists with business analysis
  • Assist and work on miscellaneous tasks/projects as needed

 

Required Qualifications

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country 
  • Bachelors degree 
  • 1 or more years of experience in Commercial business including exposure to energy trading activities and related reporting/risk management 
  • Proficient in Excel 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with trade capture systems used by the organization
  • Solid understanding of risk management methodologies and financial analysis 
  • Strong analytical skills to derive and explain anomalies in data 
  • Documentation skills to record and report on findings to the business 
  • Detail-oriented with emphasis on accuracy and continual improvement 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and proven written & verbal communication abilities 
  • Self-motivated and able to manage time with competing priorities and minimal supervision 
  • Ability to work with and be part of several different teams in an open trade floor environment 
  • Ability to adjust personal schedule to meet requests on short notice 
  • Ability to perform under pressure with daily deadlines and deliverables
