The Control Center Engineer supports Midstream Operations through the design, testing, and operational support of pipeline hydraulic model-based leak detection systems in the Bartlesville and Houston Pipeline Control Centers. The Control Center Engineer works with stakeholders in the Control Centers, SCADA, Region, and Engineering to support the leak detection program.

 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Provide guidance to project engineers regarding construction design for equipment and instrumentation that affects leak detectability.
  • Support remote pipeline operations excellence through operational, leak detection, and alarm management reviews.
  • Support implementation of leak detection software upgrades and improvements.
  • Support the leak detection training program for pipeline controllers.
  • Identify improvements in field instrumentation, leak detection configuration, and operations to improve leak detectability and safe operation.
  • Provide 24/7 support for pipeline operations and leak detection systems in a rotating on-call schedule.
  • Support the design and development of operator and support staff displays (GUI) and reports.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance and management of change for real-time transient leak detection models.
  • Support special projects within Midstream Operations, such as offline hydraulic modeling, development of static monitoring tools, etc. as needed.
  • Support the integration of field projects into the control center, including design reviews, hydraulic study reviews, and design of control center applications applied to the given asset.

 

Required:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering
  • 3 or more years’ experience in the petroleum industry

 

Preferred:

  • Master’s Degree or higher in Engineering
  • 2 or more years’ experience with liquid pipeline hydraulic simulation
  • 5 or more years’ experience in the petroleum industry
  • 2 or more years' experience in midstream field operations
  • Experience with liquid pipeline leak detection and control room management regulation

Midstream

Phillips 66's Midstream business is a safe, reliable and trusted logistics provider for the movement and storage of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 22,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
