Consultant, Business Planning & Analysis

This role is a key member of the Finished Lubricants Sales & Base Oil organization, with a focus on analyzing and evaluating new business opportunities, leading the commercial deal desk, and driving cross-functional collaboration to enhance decision-making, deal evaluation, and win rates.

 

Key responsibilities include working closely with the Lubricants Leadership Team to prepare strategic presentations for business opportunities, management reviews, and customer engagements. Additionally, the role will lead business transformation and continuous improvement initiatives to help shape the future of the organization.

 

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Lead the organization’s commercial Deal Desk to facilitate cross-functional collaboration across the value chain and drive faster decision-making, improved deal evaluation, and increased win-rate.
  • Build and maintain economic models to support strategic decision-making.
  • Define and improve processes to enhance deal evaluation and develop tools to increase efficiency. 
  • Partner with the Business Development team to provide analysis and input to support negotiations and evaluate deals.
  • Develop key reporting and metrics to support pipeline analysis and deal performance evaluation.
  • Prepare presentations and updates for management, customers, and business reviews.
  • Lead business transformation initiatives by coordinating cross-functional efforts, driving idea generation and evaluation, advancing strategic priorities, tracking progress, and promoting continuous improvement.
  • Provide market and competitive analysis to support business planning and decision-making.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and data compilation to support leadership, commercial development, strategy, and investment analysis.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7+ years of experience in Oil & Gas, Manufacturing, Banking, Management Consulting or other relevant commercial experience  
  • 3+ years of experience applying strong quantitative, statistical, and analytical skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Proficiency in economic modeling and ability to draw actionable insights from data
  • Strong business acumen with proven ability to communicate findings effectively across all levels of management

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master’s Degree in Economics or Finance
  • Proven project management skills with experience defining goals, coordinating cross-functional teams, and delivering solutions on time
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support complex business decisions
  • Track record of delivering measurable results in dynamic, fast-paced environments
  • Excellent communication skills, including written, verbal, and presentation abilities to engage and influence stakeholders effectively
  • Skilled in fostering teamwork, building trust, and maintaining productive relationships
  • Ability to manage shifting priorities and advance multiple projects in evolving environments
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Experience supporting internal customers and promoting a culture of high performance and continuous learning
  • Proficiency with data management and analysis tools, including PowerBI, Tableau, Alteryx, SAP, and BW
