Analyst II, Gas Accounting

This role offers an opportunity to build a strong foundation in accounting while supporting a dynamic, fast‑paced energy business. As an Analyst II, Gas Accounting, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals, apply sound accounting principles, and grow your expertise while contributing to accurate, timely financial outcomes that support informed decision‑making across the organization.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Support core accounting activities with a primary focus on Natural Gas accounting operations.
  • Contribute to the monthly close by preparing journal entries, accruals, settlements, and account reconciliations.
  • Ensure Natural Gas movements and related transactions are accurately recorded in accounting systems.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret financial data; investigate variances and deliver clear, reliable reports.
  • Respond to routine questions from internal partners and external counterparties, resolving issues independently and escalating complex matters as appropriate.
  • Partner closely with schedulers, traders, and other stakeholders to resolve discrepancies and support day-to-day business needs.
  • Help maintain effective internal controls and support internal and external audit activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes, documentation, and data quality.
  • Manage work effectively to meet deadlines while applying accounting principles with sound judgment.
  • Build technical and analytical skills while gaining deeper insight into how accounting supports business decisions.

 

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • 3 or more years of hands-on experience in accounting or financial operations, with exposure to standard accounting processes, systems, and reporting
  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 
  • 5 or more years of hands-on experience in accounting or financial operations, with exposure to standard accounting processes, systems, and reporting
  • Experience supporting month‑end close activities, including accruals, settlements, and variance analysis
  • Exposure to natural gas accounting within the oil and gas industry
  • Experience working with ERP or accounting systems such as SAP S/4 and reconciliation or close tools like Blackline
  • Intermediate Excel skills, including PivotTables, lookups, or similar analytical tools
  • CPA or progress toward a professional accounting certification
  • Working knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial data, including journal entries, reconciliations, or report preparation
  • Ability to collect, analyze, and summarize data accurately, with strong attention to detail and follow‑through
  • Comfort using standard office and financial systems to support reporting, documentation, and day‑to‑day accounting activities
  • Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines, and collaborate effectively with others in a team environment

 

 

Compensation Range 

This position has a base salary range of $81,000 – $99,000.

Where a candidate offer falls within the posted range depends on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
