What to Expect
As a Public Affairs Advisor, you will be at the forefront of shaping how our company is seen by employees, neighbors, and stakeholders across your assigned region(s). You’ll work closely with Refining and Midstream leadership and local partners to foster meaningful connections, champion our values, and help drive positive impact both inside and outside our gates. What You’ll Do
- Protect, enhance, and promote the image of the Borger Refinery and Permian Region and related assets within the local community and region.
- Develop and execute communications strategies that engage employees, contractors, and external stakeholders, ensuring messages are clear, timely, and aligned with company objectives.
- Manage local philanthropic / charitable contributions and volunteerism events in support of Social Impact efforts.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for media inquiries and public information, preparing and disseminating information across digital and print platforms.
- Manage crisis communications and keep refinery leadership informed of significant community news and external issues.
- Plan and facilitate community advisory panel meetings, organize refinery tours, and oversee local philanthropic initiatives to strengthen relationships with community leaders, elected officials, and civic organizations.
- Maintaining and promoting relationships with local elected officials and monitoring and engaging in local government issues that may influence refinery business, including identifying new opportunities for community investments.
- Collaborate with internal teams and government affairs managers to monitor and engage in legislative activities, advocate for refinery interests, and support employee involvement in corporate initiatives.
- Manage social media channels, respond to community inquiries, and develop innovative concepts to enhance the refinery’s reputation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations, analyze data to inform communication strategies, and produce compelling content for various audiences.
- Build positive relationships and foster support for company-sponsored events, helping create a welcoming and informed environment for employees and the community.
- Serve on the board of at least one local / statewide organization.
What You’ll Bring – Required
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Possess a valid Driver’s License
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 1 or more years of communications or public affairs experience working with leadership teams on internal and external communications, as well as elected officials within the community
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Political Science or Communications
- 10 or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry
- 10 or more years of experience working with community and elected officials
- Experience as a public information and/or liaison officer in an Incident Command System structure
- Borger area resident familiar with the political and social environment in the region
- Strong business acumen and understanding of business value
- Experience drafting, editing and producing internal and external publications as well as public presentations
- Proficient in social media management and messaging
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, even in crisis situations
- Ability to influence, network and deliver on commitments
- Strong internal and external networking and people interaction skills
- Experience with coordinating events
- Ability to independently produce and implement public affairs plans and strategies
Compensation Range:
- $106,200 - $129,800 annually
