Operations Shift Team Leader

The Operations Shift Team Leader, Borger Refinery will supervise and direct the operation of the various units and personnel assigned to the operating area. The Operations Shift Team Leader will ensure compliance with company, regulatory and departmental policies and/or regulations while maximizing productivity and maintaining product specifications.

 

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Supervising all aspects of shift personnel for their assigned process units through effective supervision of all unit personnel (board & field)
  • Setting and communicating expectations through performance monitoring, setting clear expectations, conducting performance evaluations, and developing performance improvement plans as needed
  • Continuously monitoring shift team capabilities and identifying training and development actions needed to improve performance
  • Creating and maintaining a safe and environmentally sound operation through proactive monitoring of performance, ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, and leading day-to-day PSM activities
  • Ensure the execution of production and maintenance plans, improve the reliability of operating equipment per standard, and coordinate with technical support teams to optimize unit performance
  • Routinely reviewing metrics with team and providing leadership in achieving set goals/targets
  • Engaging operators in continuous improvement of work, such as work processes, plant utilization, safety, environmental compliance and policies and procedures
  • Seeking and implementing opportunities to maximize unit operating effectiveness and minimizing cost
  • Modifying or direct modification of Operating Procedures as needed to reflect MOC and other changes

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must maintain a valid driver’s license
  • 3 or more years of Refinery experience in Operations / Technical support functions
  • Willing to maintain required NIMS, ICS, and corporate QI/IC certification
  • Able and willing, with or without a reasonable accommodation, to perform the following:
    • Work a 12-hour rotating shifts, which includes some weekends and holidays     
    • Respond to emergencies on a 24 hour basis

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in Science or Engineering
  • 1 or more years of direct experience in an Emergency Response related position
  • 7 or more years of Refinery experience in Operations or Technical support functions
  • Proficient (perform the skill with limited assistance) with Microsoft Outlook and Excel
  • Proven ability to lead by example
  • Class "A" Exempt Driver's License
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral
  • Practical self-starter and can work effectively with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Consistently displays a high level of personal integrity and self-discipline which builds trust and confidence 

 

The Borger Refinery is located in Borger, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle, approximately 50 miles north of Amarillo, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes primarily medium sour crude oil produced locally, and heavy sour crude oil produced in Canada, all of which are delivered by pipeline. Borger produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petroleum coke, NGLs and solvents. Refined products are distributed to customers via pipelines from the refinery to West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and the Midcontinent region.
