The Capital Projects Cost Controller, Borger Refinery is responsible for all aspects of capital project cost and control measures to the capital projects team adhering to corporate capital policies along with ensuring department work process procedures are followed from fund approval to total investment and closure.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Identify and plan all cost activities on projects
- Ensuring adherence to corporate capital polices and documented Borger Project Work Process guidelines
- Responsible for monthly reporting of capital costs and forecasted costs to the business unit and to corporate
- Support Project Leaders to provide monthly cost reporting, trending, forecast at completion analysis, cost and variance analysis at the project level by staying engaged with Project Leaders
- Coordinate engineering, procurement, and construction reporting
- Interfaces and coordinates with planning and scheduling to ensure data is incorporated into integrated project schedule
- Maintaining project cost structure for all capital projects to ensure cost reporting consistency
- Ensuring SAP Project Systems is fully utilized for all aspects of project costs and controls
- Managing and maintaining organizational cost reporting files used to analyze and report business unit capital performance against budget and approved funds
- Responsible for routing 2320s, new project SAP setup, and the updating of supporting documents
- Responsible for guiding Project Leaders through financial activities pertaining to project closeout and investments
- Assisting with the continuous improvement efforts of the capital project organization through activities such as auditing project costs, benchmarking various aspects of project execution, analyzing project spend for trends and historical information, and training project staff in the use of organizational cost tools
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3 or more years of experience in a cost control position within a project organization
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Outlook)
- Advanced proficiency working in SAP Project System
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or Engineering
- 5 or more years of experience in a cost control position within a project organization
- Experience working in EcoSys
- Working knowledge of project control tools that include project schedules and earned value measurement
- Working knowledge of SAP Hana
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
- Works well under pressure and able to meet deadlines
- Works independently without much supervision
- Strong analytical skills
The Borger Refinery is located in Borger, Texas, in the Texas Panhandle, approximately 50 miles north of Amarillo, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes primarily medium sour crude oil produced locally, and heavy sour crude oil produced in Canada, all of which are delivered by pipeline. Borger produces a high percentage of transportation fuels, as well as petroleum coke, NGLs and solvents. Refined products are distributed to customers via pipelines from the refinery to West Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and the Midcontinent region.
