Field Technician, Billings Midstream

What To Expect:

The Field Technician, Billings Midstream will work independently and with other personnel to maintain and operate equipment and processes in the Midstream business unit on finished products. Some of the processes involved use hazardous and volatile materials under high temperature and pressure. Typical working conditions include: outside weather and elements, blowing air, heat, noise, vibration and occasionally working from heights and confined spaces. Field Technicians must follow safe work practices including the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). In addition, Technicians perform various duties required to keep their assigned processing unit/area operating safely and at specified production/run rate.

What You'll Do:

  • Performing routine pipeline and/or terminal maintenance 
  • Monitoring controls for pipeline delivery and receipts
  • Ensuring quality and quantity of refined products and/or feedstock
  • Identifying and resolving scheduling conflicts in a timely manner
  • Ensuring timely completion of all required paperwork
  • Staying abreast of changes in operation requirements, policies and processes
  • Performing operational duties in accordance with the Terminal Operating and Procedures Guide and Local Operating Procedures Guide
  • Responding to emergencies and maintaining emergency and measurement equipment
  • Completing mandated safety and regulatory training (Computer-Based Training)
  • Maintaining effective and professional relationships with customers and responding promptly to their needs
  • Assisting with transport driver and new employee training
  • Monitoring and enforcing all safety rules and regulations
  • Completing daily, weekly, monthly office inventory reconciliation, additive, agency and other required report
  • Acquiring operator qualification in a DOT facility
  • Participate in safety meetings and develop knowledge in all Safety Polices and industry safety standards.
  • Identify and report safety hazards, actively strive to provide a Safe work environment for company employees, customers, contractors and the public, and set an example for less experienced coworker.
  • Adhere to all company Fleet Policy guidelines.
  • Work knowledge of routine ROW maintenance, pipelines and completion of DOT/Company documentation.
  • Assist in Public Awareness Compliance.
  • Ensure good contractor work performance and their adherence to company safety policies.
  • Assist in the use of Pipeline Leak Survey equipment and ensure the proper documentation.
  • Assist in the use of the P66 Midstream GIS Systems and ensure good communication with GPS Updates.
  • Assist in the internal and external pipeline corrosion programs.
  • Assist in the DOT compliance work with the Pipeline Integrity Dept.
  • To be available for callouts and nonstandard work schedules.
  • Work as a liaison between internal and external customers for project development.
  • Assist in maintaining material inventory.
  • Maintain a TWIC card for refinery access.

    • Pull/push doors open to move around the plant
    • Exert pulling force of up to 130 pounds
    • Frequently lift and carry objects up to 50 pounds
    • Climb A-frame ladders
    • Climb fixed ladders and stairs

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred:

  • 1 or more year(s) of oil and gas operations experience
  • 1 or more year(s) of specialized experience in mechanical maintenance, instrumentation and electrical maintenance, measurement, or finished product pipeline operations
  • Safety and environmental alertness, and promotes a safe work environment by complying with all procedures, rules and regulations
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and SAP
  • Experience in troubleshooting , pipelines, and associated facility equipment
  • Experience with PHMSA Guidelines


Compensation Range:

The base pay range for this role is $70,200 - $114,400 depending on a candidate's relevant work experience and education.

 

Midstream

The Phillips 66 Midstream business is a safe, reliable, and trusted provider for the movement, storage, gathering, and processing of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 70,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. Our capabilities include extensive natural gas gathering and processing operations, enhancing our wellhead-to-market strategy. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
