As a Senior Manager, Carbon & Coking, you will lead research and development efforts to advance carbon and coking innovations while guiding a team that delivers impactful scientific solutions. You will drive strategic research initiatives, translate complex findings into practical applications, and support business needs with high‑quality technical insight.
What You’ll Do
- Lead and develop a team of researchers, managing experimental design, execution, and portfolio oversight while fostering a culture of scientific curiosity and problem‑solving.
- Manage significant research programs, identifying opportunities, generating innovative experiments, and translating results into practical applications that support business and operational needs.
- Engage with internal stakeholders to understand challenges, synthesize needs into research direction, and provide expert technical guidance across carbon and coking initiatives.
- Develop and implement new methodologies, tools, and processes to enhance research capability and efficiency across the organization.
- Communicate research findings clearly to technical and business audiences, presenting data and insights through written and oral formats.
- Oversee budgeting, planning, and performance management for the research team, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and driving continuous improvement.
What You’ll Bring – Required
- 10 or more years of research and development experience, demonstrating advanced scientific and analytical capabilities or refinery process engineering experience with coking units
- 2 or more years of managerial experience overseeing teams, resources, or research programs
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Travel up to 10% of the time
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred
- Doctorate degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field
- Experience leading carbon product R&D or manufacturing projects
- Record of moving process improvements to implementation
- Experience applying research and statistical analysis techniques to drive data‑based decision‑making
- Experience with IP protection, business case development, and stakeholder engagement at multiple levels
- Supervisory experience supporting technical teams
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to simplify complex concepts
Compensation Range
This position has a base salary range of $176,400 - $215,600.
