As part of the Lubricants Business Unit, this position is responsible for managing and fulfilling all chemical registration activities of the Finished Lubricants business, including supplemental disclosures of compositional information to meet customer and/or country-specific regulatory requirements, such as, but not limited to European REACH and CLP regulations. Establishes and coordinates reporting and disclosure strategies within Lubricants and with various vendors of Chemical additives. Performs as delegate to the Product Safety Leadership Team and coordinates product stewardship responsibilities within the Lubricants BU. Also establishes harmonized tariff classification codes for all Lubricants and provides a Free Trade Agreement Certificate of Origins to our export customers.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Manage pre-registration/registration activities, ensuring Lubricant's business interests are represented at all phases of substance pre-registration/registration for REACH.
- Ensure established processes maintain confidential business information.
- Identify and manage external resources (Chemical Additive Suppliers) to support REACH, other chemical registrations, and country-specific chemical control regulations.
- Monitor supply patterns and update OR vendors and/or registrations as required (e.g. tonnage band changes, product reformulation, identification of new risks, new uses, etc.)
- Track and prepare periodic reports on substance volumes, downstream users, and other regulatory-required information.
- Lead the product stewardship efforts for Lubricants.
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions
- Bachelor's Science degree in life sciences, environmental science, chemical engineering, or chemistry
- 5 years experience in the petroleum or chemical industry
- Communication skills: proficient in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, to ensure common understanding with multiple levels of management
- Influencing others: at least one year of experience working with Influence Management, such as conflict resolution and leading internal/external resources to achieve goals
- Organizational Skills: experience prioritizing and managing multiple tasks/issues simultaneously, detail-oriented
- Proficient (perform the skill with limited assistance) in Microsoft Office along with other proprietary software and Internet applications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preference will be given to candidates with a post-graduate qualification (MS or higher) in a discipline related to the life sciences, environmental science chemical engineering, or chemistry
- Experience and familiarity working in the Petroleum Industry which includes technical knowledge pertaining to Lubricants
- Knowledge of global regulations and associated product-related regulations
- Professional certification in Product Stewardship (e.g. SDSRP, CPPS)
- Experience in entering chemical compositions and simple hazard determinations in WERCS, IMDS, Covisint, and IUCLID 6
- Candidate must be a team player focused on contributing to the organization and achieving results
- Demonstrated ability to use strong interpersonal skills and lead/guide others toward desired results
- Independent Producer – The individual must be able to work independently without daily supervision
- Results Oriented: Experience driving results
- Familiar with SAP, SAP queries, Business Warehouse, and Power BI
- An effective business partner who positively impacts business decisions
