The Senior Analyst, Electronic Point of Sale will develop, coordinate, support and test electronic point of sale (EPOS) and payment technologies for the US Marketing business unit. Strong leadership skills, paired with a strong technical foundation and an analytical mindset, is essential in this role to effectively collaborate with the team, investigate and troubleshoot issues, communicate findings with external partners and customers, and test the next generation of payment systems. This role spans multiple EPOS systems, self-checkout devices, fuel dispensers, payment terminals and Phillips 66's Mobile Pay platform.
Responsibilities May Include:
High-Performing Organization:
Perform skills and training analysis; steward training plans to support continuous learning Identify and support development opportunities for the team, including mentorship and development of EPOS analysts.
Maintain Operational Excellence:
- Coordinate upkeep of EPOS equipment in lab with third-party vendors and technicians for installations, setups and routine maintenance
- Investigate, troubleshoot, document and replicate production issues with motor fuel and aviation point of sale equipment in the lab environment
- Support testing efforts which involve EPOS and payment systems
- Support external vendors and partners in the collection and reporting of logs and review of errors, often acting as sole company representative in these interactions
- Act as escalation point to assist chargeback and settlement teams to investigate and resolve transaction-related issues
- Independently prioritize workload to meet established deadlines, including managing multiple high-priority items at one time
- Perform data conversion and manipulation via advanced Microsoft Excel or Power BI functionality to assist with investigation of issues
- Own and assist in updating operating procedures, documentation, forms and processes
- Understand and adhere to Payment Card Industry's Data Security Standards and associated requirements
Deliver Value:
- Test new versions of hardware and software, including transaction and settlement validation
- Seek opportunities to automate manual efforts, including test scripts and reporting
- Support the Mobile Pay platform's rollout of new features and enhancements
- Facilitate requirements elicitation from business teams and documentation for technical teams
Build and maintain strong partnerships:
- Partner with IT Project Lead, Retail Technology and business stakeholders to develop a vision and strategy for electronic point of sale; keep updated according to business priority changes.
- Establish and maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with business and IT teams, as well as external partners and customers
- Maintain communication with leadership, stakeholders, partners and customers regarding status of open issues, enhancements, and bug fixes
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Associates degree or higher
- 10 or more years of experience supporting payment systems, such as EPOS systems, self-checkout devices or payment terminals
- 10 or more years of experience in tracing transactions between points of sale, payment terminals, fuel dispensers, Fuel controllers, payment processors, issuers and settlement systems 5 or more years of experience working with payment processor specifications
- 5 or more years of experience working with external partners and service providers on payment related technology solutions
- 2 or more years of experience creating technical documentation, including networking diagrams and context diagrams
- Thorough knowledge of concepts and differences of payment, including credit, debit, magnetic stripe, EMV, contactless, fleet, mobile pay, gift card, and other payment methods
- Advanced diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
- Experience working in secure, PCI-compliant environment, including network configurations and firewalls
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent
- 15 or more years of experience supporting payment systems, such as EPOS systems, self-checkout devices or payment terminals
- 5 or more years of experience creating technical documentation, including networking diagrams and context diagrams
- 2 or more years of experience with supporting mobile pay transactions in EPOS systems
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively in a multi-team environment to encourage collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Ability to think critically and have strong diagnostic and analytical skills to effectively collaborate and resolve business challenges.
- Experience in rolling out new support procedures or training others
- Willingness to continually learn
