The Mechanical Engineer provides mechanical engineering design, technical expertise, and maintenance support for facilities, laboratories, and pilot plants at the Bartlesville site. This role is responsible for developing, reviewing, and implementing designs for pressure vessels, piping systems, structural components, and mechanical equipment, ensuring compliance with applicable industry codes, regulatory requirements, and internal company standards. The Mechanical Engineer serves as a site mechanical engineering subject matter expert, working closely with maintenance, inspection, laboratory, and pilot plant teams, as well as external engineering firms, to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective solutions. In addition to design responsibilities, this position plays a key role in site maintenance support, Mechanical Integrity, and Process Safety Management (PSM) activities to ensure the long-term reliability and safe operation of site mechanical systems.
What You’ll Do
- Perform job duties safely and actively promote a strong safety culture.
- Contact internal clients, develop scopes of work (including gathering field information), and design solutions to meet the needs of the groups supported.
- Develop mechanical designs, including engineering drawings, bills of materials, technical specifications, and scopes of work.
- Apply applicable industry codes, regulatory requirements, and company standards to all design activities.
- Utilize CAD software and drafting conventions to produce accurate engineering drawings.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors for technical discussions, clarifications, and quote requests related to mechanical equipment and services.
- Review and approve design packages prepared by external engineering firms for medium to large projects.
- Lead the site Mechanical Integrity program, including chairing the Mechanical Integrity Committee and supporting inspection, testing, and maintenance of rotating and fixed equipment.
- Provide site maintenance and troubleshooting support for mechanical equipment and systems.
- Provide technical support for projects and long-term preventative/predictive maintenance programs for mechanical equipment.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with laboratory, pilot plant, maintenance, inspection, operations, and other cross-functional stakeholders to implement designs and maintain mechanical systems.
- Provide regular status updates on assigned engineering design requests and communicate risks, issues, and changes to stakeholders.
- Provide technical support to Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, including participation in Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) and development, review, and maintenance of Process Safety Information.
What You’ll Bring – Required
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline
- Valid Drivers License
- 3 or more years of engineering experience with mechanical design, pressure vessel design/fabrication, piping design/fabrication, or a related field
- 3 or more years of experience applying industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ASTM)
- Experience working with industrial equipment (such as vessels, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, or similar)
- Willingness and ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to:
- Climb ladders and stairs
- Wear personal protective equipment
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred
- Intermediate to senior-level engineering experience, with the ability to act as a mechanical engineering subject matter expert (SME) for site stakeholders
- 5 or more years of engineering experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain license
- 5 or more years’ experience with pressure vessel and piping design, fabrication, maintenance, and inspections
- Experience creating designs and drawings in SOLIDWORKS
- Proficient with SAP PM, PCMS, and/or other inspection and maintenance software
Compensation Range
This position has a base salary range of $121,500- $148,500.
