Inventory Specialist

The Inventory Specialist is responsible for providing technical guidance, analysis, and support related to the Materials Management processes at Phillips 66.  Additionally, the role is responsible for providing support to the BU/sites in managing and optimizing inventory assets to attain best-in-class materials management.

 

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Provide technical guidance, analysis, and support for the Materials Management processes and systems.
  • Lead or coordinate Materials Management and inventory optimization efforts throughout the BU/sites. 
  • Establish measures for key performance metrics to ensure that success can be measured, and appropriate courses of action/changes are made to achieve best-in-class performance.  
  • Coordinate Management of Change activities for Materials Management initiatives.
  • Support and contribute to the site Procurement agenda by applying advanced inventory management analytical tools and techniques.
  • Routinely communicate openly and with integrity with business stakeholders to align the direction between Procurement and the BU/site strategy.
  • Network and develop working relationships with a variety of stakeholders across site Procurement teams and business groups.
  • Ensure Materials Management Network's success through active leadership, participation, and contribution. 
  • Maintain and strengthen effective relationships and communication avenues with the BU/sites.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable inventory management analytical techniques to optimize inventory levels and stock replenishment.
  • Actively influence key business stakeholders regarding the results of inventory management analysis.
  • Comply with relevant standards and policies and minimize risk and cost exposure. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country 
  • HS Diploma/ GED
  • 2 or more years of inventory management experience in the oil & gas industry

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient computer skills with experience in formulating reports and extracting data from various computer programs including SAP, MDG, Business Objects, Verusen, and Microsoft Excel
  • 5 or more years of inventory management experience in the oil & gas industry
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • Proficient computer skills with experience in formulating reports and extracting data from various computer programs including SAP, Verusen, and Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of SAP MM and inventory management tools and systems
  • Strong understanding of materials management tools, concepts, and methods
  • Analytical approach to problem-solving with an ability to resolve tough problems that arise daily
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to present ideas in an organized manner
  • Proven track record of achieving objectives through effective collaboration and alignment
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to "influence without authority" across multiple disciplines
  • Proven self-motivator who sets clear direction and priorities
  • Ability to foster effective teamwork and collaboration
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple activities and changing priorities and arrive at planned outcomes
