Our Control Center Systems Engineer is responsible for configuring and tuning hydraulic models for pipeline systems using standard advanced leak detection software packages to provide accurate thresholds for leak detection. The role also involves developing and maintaining offline hydraulic modeling for training pipeline controllers and simulating scenarios with other applications. Additionally, the engineer develops advanced automation for pipeline operations.
Responsibilities May Include:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop model scenarios and simulations to ensure models are robust and flexible for all operating conditions
- Provide guidance to project engineers and 3rd party engineering regarding construction design for equipment and instrumentation that affects leak detectability
- Develop and maintain standards for the design, implementation, and support of leak detection systems
- Lead implementation of leak detection software upgrades and improvements
- Lead the leak detection engineering training program
- Develop tools and documentation to support the ongoing development of the leak detection program
- Key point of contact for support with the leak detection software vendor
- Identify enhancements in software configuration and additional functionality to optimize operations and improve leak detectability
- Provide 24/7 support for pipeline operations and leak detection systems
- Lead the design and development of operator and support staff displays (GUI) and reports
- Lead the ongoing maintenance and management of change for real-time models
- Support special projects within Logistics, such as offline hydraulic modeling and development of static monitoring tools
- Developing and maintaining offline hydraulic modeling for the purpose of training pipeline controllers and simulating scenarios with other applications
- Developing advance automation for pipeline automation operations
Required Qualifications:
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
- 3 years of experience in online modeling of liquid pipeline hydraulic simulation
- 2 years of experience supporting a critical production application
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Liquid pipeline leak detection and control room management regulation
- Knowledge of API leak detection recommended practices and measurement standards
- Proficiency with SQL database design, implementation and support
- Proficiency with Scripting languages
Midstream
The Phillips 66 Midstream business is a safe, reliable, and trusted provider for the movement, storage, gathering, and processing of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 70,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. Our capabilities include extensive natural gas gathering and processing operations, enhancing our wellhead-to-market strategy. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
