As the Operations Superintendent, you will lead multi-shift manufacturing operations to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective production. In this role, you guide a skilled workforce, integrate production processes across departments, and maintain alignment with business goals while driving continuous improvement.

 

What You'll Do

  • Lead daily production activities across assigned shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable execution of manufacturing plans while maintaining output, quality, and cost targets.
  • Oversee and integrate production processes, equipment performance, and workflow coordination across multiple shifts or departments to support continuous, balanced operations.
  • Develop and adjust short-term production schedules, ensuring alignment of labor, materials, and machine loading with operational priorities and changing business needs.
  • Coordinate closely with planning, maintenance, and operations teams to troubleshoot issues, minimize downtime, resolve equipment or process disruptions, and maintain steady production flow.
  • Guide, coach, and support production employees by providing clear expectations, performance feedback, and day-to-day direction to build capabilities and ensure accountability.
  • Champion safety, health, and environmental compliance by reinforcing safe work practices, identifying hazards, and ensuring adherence to company and regulatory standards.
  • Track production performance, analyze operational data, and recommend improvements to production flow, methods, or systems to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Identify and address noncompliance issues, escalating concerns as appropriate and ensuring corrective actions are implemented to maintain policy and regulatory alignment.

 

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 6 or more years of production or manufacturing experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment, workflow, and process-related issues
  • Possess a valid driver's license
  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to comply with the following:
    • Travel up to 5%
    • Operate company vehicle on site premises and/or public roads up to 5%
    • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional duties.
    • Transport articles up to 50 pounds
    • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
    • Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions
    • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment
    • Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • Experience in the Energy, Oil and Gas, or heavy industrial manufacturing sectors
  • Proficiency with SAP or other production management systems
  • Demonstrated success improving production flow, methods, or manufacturing processes
  • Strong communication, planning, and conflict management skills to support diverse teams
  • Experience coordinating multi-shift or multi-department production activities 

 

Compensation Range 

This position has a base salary range of $141,300 - $172,700.

Where a candidate offer falls within the posted range depends on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s requirements. The Sweeny Refinery is located in Old Ocean, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization, and aromatics units, as well as access to the on-site vacuum tower and delayed coking unit, which is an asset owned by Phillips 66 Partners. Sweeny processes heavy, high-sulfur crude oil and some light, low sulfur crude oil. Domestic, Canadian and other foreign crude oil is transported by truck, pipeline, marine transportation and terminals. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, heating oil and petroleum coke. The refinery receives crude oil by pipeline and via tankers, through terminals on the Gulf Coast, including a deepwater terminal at Freeport. Refined products are distributed throughout the Midcontinent region, southeastern and eastern United States by pipeline, barge and rail car. Refined products are also exported to Latin America by waterborne cargo.
