Senior Analyst, Refining FP&A, Sweeny Refinery

This position is responsible for supporting financial reporting, business transformation, and financial business support for the Sweeny Refinery under the direction of the FP&A Finance Manager.
 
Responsibilities May Include:

  • Demonstrates personal commitment to health, safety, and environmental objectives.
  • Create and maintain reports from SAP, Power BI, and Analysis for Office.
  • Perform detailed routine analysis during month-end close and report the results to management.
  • Assist with creating forecasts, outlooks, and budgets.
  • Understand refinery processes and maintain forecast drivers by working closely with the refinery’s leadership teams.
  • Perform margin analysis and variance reporting for the Business Unit and Corporate Office.
  • Assist with Solomon's Reporting.
  • Maintains work procedures and work processes on an ongoing basis and ensures compliance with those procedures, processes, and policies.
  • Utilize our accounting and reporting systems to dive into the numbers help identify cost savings opportunities and margin enhancements, and provide variance analysis.
  • Assist with audit requests.
  • Perform Ad-Hoc analysis requests from Business unit and Corporate Office.
  • Become a member of the emergency response team.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a regular, full-time basis without restrictions 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and Outlook)
  • Strong analytical skills with intermediate/advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with all levels of the organization
  • Works independently without much supervision
  • Works well under pressure and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to interact with a high level of professionalism with all levels of the organization
  • Subject to extended work hours during closing, turnaround, and emergencies
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality of all information (written & verbal) obtained on the job
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail

 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least one year experience in an auditing, accounting, or finance position

The Sweeny Refinery is located in Old Ocean, Texas. Refinery facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization, and aromatics units, as well as access to the on-site vacuum tower and delayed coking unit, which is an asset owned by Phillips 66 Partners. Sweeny processes heavy, high-sulfur crude oil and some light, low sulfur crude oil. Domestic, Canadian and other foreign crude oil is transported by truck, pipeline, marine transportation and terminals. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels. Other products include petrochemical feedstocks, heating oil and petroleum coke. The refinery receives crude oil by pipeline and via tankers, through terminals on the Gulf Coast, including a deepwater terminal at Freeport. Refined products are distributed throughout the Midcontinent region, southeastern and eastern United States by pipeline, barge and rail car. Refined products are also exported to Latin America by waterborne cargo.
