The Maintenance Supervisor, Rotating Equipment is responsible for leading a team of Rotating Equipment Technicians to ensure reliable, safe, and cost-effective operations within a designated area. This role provides technical expertise and oversight across all aspects of rotating equipment — including troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and the evaluation of new technologies and predictive maintenance tools. The Supervisor collaborates cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Projects, and Reliability teams to develop and manage long-range maintenance plans, capital and expense budgets, and critical spare strategies.

 

Leaders at this level focus on setting clear direction, building trust, and helping their teams succeed. You're expected to act with integrity, make timely and thoughtful decisions, and take ownership of outcomes while supporting collaboration across teams. This role is about leading people well, even when priorities change or the path forward isn't always clear.

 

What You'll Do

  • Supervise a team of remotely located Rotating Equipment Technicians, overseeing troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, and technical guidance for the design, installation, and operation of all rotating equipment in the area
  • Provide Rotating Equipment technical expertise to support Technicians, Projects, Engineering, Operations, and other maintenance personnel
  • Partner with Engineering and other Rotating Equipment Supervisors to ensure related standards, policies, and procedures are fit for purpose and cost-effective
  • Manage criticality data, critical equipment inventory, and critical spare replacement plan
  • Develop a long-range maintenance plan based on equipment criticality and available data, ensuring it is incorporated into capital, expense, and major maintenance budgets
  • Develop, track, and control the Rotating Equipment capital, expense, and major maintenance budgets
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, the Planner/Scheduler, and other maintenance disciplines to manage Technician task assignments, time off, overtime, and call-outs
  • Coordinate with the Planner/Scheduler to ensure the Maintenance Schedule is complete, accurate, and up to date
  • Coordinate with Operations Supervisors and Local Operations to plan and schedule maintenance and project work to minimize operational impact
  • Ensure Rotating Equipment Technicians execute work in compliance with applicable regulations, standards, policies, and procedures in an efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Ensure Technicians and other personnel fully document failures, data, and work related to rotating equipment in SAP PM
  • Work with Energy Management and Operations to identify and implement optimization opportunities
  • Partner with Engineering, the Reliability and Rotating Equipment Functional Excellence Team, and industry organizations to identify and implement predictive maintenance tools, new technologies, and stay current with industry regulations, standards, and practices
  • Ensure Rotating Equipment Technicians and other personnel receive required training
  • Ensure failures and near misses are appropriately investigated and resulting action items are implemented
  • Evaluate machine shops, motor shops, and contract services for professional quality
  • Support related inspections, audits, and Emergency Response activities

 

What You'll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 7 or more years of experience in rotating equipment maintenance, reliability, engineering, or related work within refining, petrochemical, or heavy industrial environments
  • Previous people leader experience
  • Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • Associate’s degree in Electrical/Rotating Equipment, Maintenance, Industrial Equipment/Electronics, or Instrumentation
  • 10 or more years of experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing rotating equipment
  • 5 or more years of experience in Midstream Operations
  • Working knowledge of Level III Vibration Analysis
  • Working knowledge of the Plant Maintenance module of SAP or similar system
  • Intermediate level or proficiency reading and understanding related drawings and technical documents

 

Compensation Range 

This position has a base salary range of $141,300 - $172,700.

Midstream

The Phillips 66 Midstream business is a safe, reliable, and trusted provider for the movement, storage, gathering, and processing of liquid or gas energy via pipelines or terminals. We are an industry leader in logistics and operate or manage more than 70,000 miles of pipelines that transport crude oil from oil fields to refineries and finished products from refineries to storage terminals. We operate 39 terminals that supply finished products to consumer gas stations, as well as crude oil and NGL storage terminals and NGL fractionation facilities. Our capabilities include extensive natural gas gathering and processing operations, enhancing our wellhead-to-market strategy. We also provide the connectivity between the various Phillips 66 business units.
