Description

The Assistant Mooring Master is a key member of the Offshore Terminal team, supporting the Mooring Master in the planning, coordination, and delivery of safe and efficient offshore marine operations. Working with assigned import tankers, the role involves overseeing vessel berthing, cargo discharge operations, and offshore maintenance activities while ensuring full compliance with terminal procedures, safety standards, and environmental requirements.

While onboard vessels, the Assistant Mooring Master works closely with shipboard management teams to monitor operations, maintain safe working practices, and support the successful execution of all terminal activities.

Working Pattern: 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rota

Key Responsibilities

• Support the mooring and unmooring of tankers at the terminal's Single Point Mooring.
• Supervise ship crews during the connection and disconnection of terminal cargo hoses.
• Monitor the safe discharge of crude oil to shore while vessels are alongside the terminal.
• Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of offshore terminal maintenance activities.
• Liaise with the refinery team, ship agents, oil traders, marine contractors, inspectors, and other stakeholders to deliver a busy and dynamic shipping schedule.
• Support the completion of statutory, company, and legal documentation relating to cargo transfer, berthing, discharge, and departure operations.
• Contribute to the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of terminal procedures and policies.
• Promote a strong safety and environmental culture, ensuring offshore operations are conducted in accordance with best practice and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in emergency response activities for safety and environmental incidents when required.
• Liaise with cargo inspectors whilst onboard import tankers to support operational and quality assurance activities.
• Assist with the quality assurance and continuous improvement of offshore operations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• A minimum Officer of the Watch (OOW) international Certificate of Competency STCW 2010 or STCW95, current or expired.
• Experience in oil tanker or Monobuoy operations.
• The ability to support and execute vessel berthing and unberthing operations under supervision.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with vessel management teams and crews.
• A full and valid UK driving licence.
• The physical fitness and resilience required to work in challenging offshore environments.
• A proactive, team-oriented approach with a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
• A committment to undertaking further training and development required for progression to Mooring Master.
