Rotating Equipment Technician, South Central Texas G&P

Location:

San Antonio, TX, US, 78238

Job Field:  Maintenance

Phillips 66 & YOU - Together we can fuel the future

What to Expect

As a Rotating Equipment Technician, you will provide dedicated mechanical and rotating-equipment support for South Central Texas Gas & Processing (G&P) operations. The position will support gas plants in the San Antonio area—including Goliad, Eagle, Wilcox, and Giddings, as assigned—as well as assigned pump stations and other surrounding pipeline assets. This role is not limited to gas-plant locations.

You will perform preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, and equipment monitoring on pumps, motors, compressors, and other mechanical equipment at gas plants, pump stations, and related pipeline facilities. You will work closely with Gas Operations, Maintenance, Environmental Advisors, Reliability, and contractors to improve equipment reliability, reduce unplanned downtime, strengthen root-cause repairs, and reduce reliance on outside support.

The role requires up to 25% travel within the assigned area, work at operating facilities and pipeline locations, participation in emergency response activities, and compliance with applicable company, OSHA, DOT, Process Safety Management, and other regulatory requirements.

*This position requires the successful completion of an online assessment. If you meet the required qualifications, a link to complete the assessment will be emailed to you after your completed application is received. The assessment must be completed within 7 days of the application date or before the job posting expiration date, whichever is earlier. Assessment results are valid for one year.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as the primary rotating-equipment support resource for assigned South Central Texas gas plants, pump stations, and other surrounding pipeline assets
  • Plan and perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on rotating and related mechanical equipment
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems and determine whether failure modes are operational, mechanical, electrical, installation-related, or related to equipment end of life
  • Perform inspections, equipment monitoring, condition assessments, and follow-up work to identify developing problems before they result in an unplanned outage
  • Perform pump tear-downs, inspections, repairs, rebuilds, mechanical-seal replacements, and new pump installations
  • Perform coupling and rotating-equipment alignments using appropriate methods and tools
  • Provide technical support for installation, commissioning, maintenance, repair, and modification of pumps, motors, compressors, drivers, and related equipment
  • Use equipment history, operating information, vibration data, and field observations to support effective troubleshooting and root-cause failure analysis
  • Coordinate with Operations, Environmental Advisors, Reliability, Mechanical Technicians, and supervisors to establish priorities, plan work, and prevent redundant or conflicting activities
  • Identify maintenance needs, initiate work requests, develop job plans, and maintain accurate work-order and equipment records in applicable systems
  • Support development and optimization of preventive-maintenance plans, equipment strategies, spare-parts requirements, and longer-term reliability plans
  • Maintain current and accurate maintenance documentation, technical records, prints, reports, and project information
  • Oversee and direct contract personnel and contractor crews, including verifying safe work practices, work quality, and completion of assigned activities
  • Train less-experienced employees and share knowledge of rotating-equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, alignment, pump repair, and safe work practices
  • Assist with procedures, work instructions, training materials, permits, and other technical documentation
  • Respond to equipment issues and emergencies, maintain emergency-response preparedness, and participate in emergency-response training
  • Drive a company-owned vehicle within the assigned area and travel up to 25% between plants, pump stations, pipeline assets, shops, vendors, and other work locations as needed
  • Pursue cost-reduction opportunities through effective in-house repairs, improved planning, reduced repeat failures, and appropriate use of contractors and repair vendors
  • Comply with company policies, procedures, safe-work practices, Operations Qualifications, and all applicable DOT, OSHA, Process Safety Management, and environmental requirements
  • Complete and maintain required safety, regulatory, technical, and qualification training
