Phillips 66 & You - Together we can fuel the future
As a Manager, Process Engineering at Phillips 66, you will lead the process engineering discipline that supports our manufacturing operations. You will guide a team of engineering leaders and professionals who design and continuously improve the processes, equipment, and systems that keep our assets running safely, reliably, and efficiently. In this role, you will turn strategy into action, develop talent, and partner across the site to deliver projects and innovations that create lasting value.
At Phillips 66, Lead Forward is our leadership approach. It defines how leaders show up, make decisions, and support their teams while delivering results in a complex, fast-changing environment. Leaders at this level focus on setting clear direction, building trust, and helping their teams succeed. You’re expected to act with integrity, make timely and thoughtful decisions, and take ownership of outcomes while supporting collaboration across teams. This role is about leading people well, even when priorities change or the path forward isn’t always clear.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the site’s process engineering function by translating business strategy into clear goals, priorities, and performance expectations for your team, and by holding yourself and others accountable for delivering on commitments.
- Build, coach, and inspire a cohesive team of process engineers and leaders, setting clear roles, providing ongoing feedback, recognizing contributions, and creating an inclusive culture where diverse perspectives are heard and valued.
- Oversee the design, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing and materials processes, including specifying process steps, equipment, and control schemes that meet safety, quality, reliability, and cost targets.
- Sponsor and manage a portfolio of capital and improvement projects by defining scope, sequencing work, allocating resources, and monitoring schedules, risks, and performance so projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve engineering standards, specifications, and technical practices for process design, equipment selection, and process automation, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, policies, and safety requirements.
- Use data, analytics, and structured problem-solving to make and enable timely, high-quality decisions on complex technical and business issues, balancing risk, cost, and value while empowering your team to decide at the right level.
- Collaborate closely with operations, maintenance, reliability, health and safety, and other partners to align priorities, share information early, resolve cross-functional issues, and remove barriers so teams can work together effectively across boundaries.
- Provide steady leadership through change by clarifying direction, adapting plans as conditions evolve, guiding the team through ambiguous situations, and ensuring lessons learned are captured and built into future work.
- Represent process engineering in site and company forums, communicating status, risks, and opportunities clearly and transparently, and influencing investment and strategy decisions with well-supported recommendations.
