Basic Function

Phillips 66's UK Marketing Supply Team sources refined products to approx. 25 UK terminal locations to meet customer demand, the vast majority of product is sourced from the Humber Refinery and the operations relating to these ship, rail and pipe movements are the responsibility of the Supply Operator.

Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate product movements via ship, pipeline or rail to ensure that Phillips 66 and public storage terminals all receive planned replenishments to meet variable customer demand. 
  • Responsible for monitoring customer liftings by location/product grade, to plan and coordinate ongoing supply replenishment programmes, promptly inputting movement data into SAP, maintaining the highest standards of data integrity. 
  • Liaise with Demand Specialist to accurately forecast and challenge future product requirements, whilst proactively seeking opportunities to increase Supply capacity and resilience. 
  • Proactively problem solve when faced with planned and unplanned operational disruptions, customer demand fluctuations and ongoing cost pressures to ensure all stakeholders requirements are optimised avoiding terminal stock outs whenever possible. 
  • Create value for P66 through optimising and efficiently managing UK Marketing Supply operations (rail, pipe, ship, storage), actively participate in regular vendor contract reviews. Monitor and control costs, ensuring that costs are challenged whenever appropriate and that decisions are made which maximise general interest value
  • Develop and maintain a close working relationship with internal and external customers on operational requirements and any associated issues. 
  • Liaise closely with Humber's Production Planning Team, other internal departments, suppliers, and terminal staff across the full supply chain to ensure optimised supply. 
  • Being contactable 24/7 
  • Assist with implementation and compliance to regulatory requirements, e.g. Tax rules, product specifications etc.

Critical Skills

  • Basic knowledge / understanding of Refining / UK Marketing supply infrastructure and/or refined products markets. 
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), influencing and negotiation skills. 
  • Proven organisational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong analytical and data management skills. 
  • Prior experience of Refining or Marketing product movements. 
  • Demonstrated ability to make real-time decisions that have a significant financial impact both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Understanding of the characteristics of petroleum products in terms of refining and refined product demand including an appreciation of specifications
  • Knowledge of transportation system (marine, rail, pipe) issues pertaining to the movement of petroleum products
