Basic Function
Post holder will be expected to create and deliver value for the P66 refining system, optimizing supply of advantaged feedstocks. The incumbent will also be responsible for growth derivatives trading associated with risk management of supply & trading barrels in addition to partnering with the Global Sweet Trading team to grow benchmark trading for Phillips 66 globally.
The role provides an excellent opportunity to work as part of a global trading with a mandate for growth and diversification of trading activity.
Primary Accountabilities/Responsibilities
- Working with the other Global Sweet Crude traders and becoming a vibrant part of the London Crude team within Global Crude Trading.
- Drive implementation and growth around new crude trading opportunities.
- Cross regional Benchmark Spreads
- Crude Options
- Technical Trading of Crude Spreads Optimize value of P66 refining assets.
- Oversight of supply purchase requirement for P66 Refining system.
- Manage market structure & price risk for P66 system cargos.
- Support existing Europe crude derivatives book driving value from BFOETM optionality.
- Drive value from P66 crude exports position, assisting in the development of US exports physical activity in Europe.
- Checking & Executing Crude Bench Position Keeper’s calculation and maintenance of Phillips 66’ Global Consolidated DTD exposure profile for Europe & US exports Crude physical activity.
- Work with the Market Strategist, global crude and products traders as appropriate with respect to all analysis including pre-trade cycle analysis.
- Partner with Market Analysis to develop P66 Market Analysis capability.
- Play a leading role in developing commerciality and trading capability across the global crude function and London commercial in general.
- Assume shared responsibility for Atlantic Basin (North Sea) book position and P&L.
- Liaison with other departments such as risk, contracts, finance and IT, activity as an ambassador for Global Crude Trading and assisting in the development of capability of back and middle office on support of global crude trading growth.

Basic/Required Qualifications
- Hold the legal right to live and work in the UK on a permanent basis without restriction or meet the criteria for employer sponsorship.
- Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university
- Relevant experience in a similar role with a proven track record of earnings.
- Internal Only: Must have attended and passed the Phillips 66 Trader Assessment Course
Preferred Skills / Competencies
- Proven track record of success in both crude physical & derivatives trading.
- An appetite for risk
- Ability to deal with stress and what can be at times an extremely hectic working environment.
- Creativity and ability to liaise with different individuals with different styles effectively.
- Knowledge of vanilla derivatives concepts, ability to learn and understand more complex derivative concepts.
- Working knowledge of Platts Europe Crude Pricing Mechanism.
- Understanding if US Crude exports & infrastructure.
- Excellent analytical & problem solving skills
- Financial, economic and statistical analysis and/or modeling experience.
- Outstanding MS Excel skills
- Excellent written, oral communication, and presentation skills
- Solid understanding of macroeconomic business environment drivers, i.e., supply, demand, price drivers.
- Strong commercial acumen; quick thinker
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- Strong desire for personal learning and sharing of skills with others; team player.
Phillips 66 has significant marketing operations in Europe. In the UK the business is primarily wholesale, selling fuels to distributors (some of whom are branded JET) and resellers. The fuels are either collected by customers or delivered through a contracted road tanker fleet operating out of a number of UK distribution points. In addition, Phillips 66 Limited supplies a network of approximately 330 independently owned petrol forecourts, all of which are branded JET.
Other markets served are aviation, marine and LPG. JET supplies some of the UK's growing secondary airports using owned and shared refuelling tankers and storage, and delivers to airlines through contracted refuelling operations. Marine markets are served using contracted vehicles, as is the LPG business.
