Strategic Pricing Advisor

Location:

Houston, TX, US, 77042

Job Field:  Marketing

Phillips 66 & YOU - Together we can fuel the future

As the Strategic Pricing Advisor, you will help execute pricing mechanisms, evaluate commercial opportunities, define reliable pricing metrics, improve pricing processes, and translate analysis into recommendations that commercial teams and business leaders can act on. Success will come through subject-matter expertise, ownership of important workstreams, a focus on building trust across teams and with leadership, and the ability to influence decisions across the business. The role offers the opportunity to work on visible commercial priorities while developing depth across pricing, analytics, and business execution. This is a high-impact individual-contributor role for someone who can move comfortably between strategy and implementation.

Phillips 66 Lubricants is strengthening its Pricing capability to support more disciplined, data-informed commercial decisions across the Finished Lubricants business. We are seeking a commercially minded, analytically strong Strategic Pricing Analyst to connect pricing strategy, customer value, margin performance, and execution.

What you will do

Drive pricing strategy and execution

  • Execute and improve pricing models across the Finished Lubricants portfolio, including index mechanisms and market-pricing approaches.
  • Help sustain pricing principles, governance, approval frameworks, target-price logic, floor and walkaway discipline, and other pricing guardrails.
  • Analyze price realization, cost recovery, price variability, index performance, and margin leakage to identify and recover value.
  • Evaluate pricing by customer, product, channel, geography, and pricing method to improve commercial decisions.

Support economic modeling and commercial decisions

  • Build and maintain economic models that support opportunity evaluation, major deals, bids, business development, and key-account strategy.
  • Evaluate expected margin, payback, NPV/IRR, cost-to-serve, volume, and other relevant commercial outcomes.
  • Partner with Sales, Business Development, Finance, and Product Management to provide pricing guidance for negotiations and new business.
  • Communicate assumptions, tradeoffs, risks, and recommendations clearly to business leaders and commercial teams.

Build metrics, data capability, and better processes

  • Partner with Pricing, Data, DISI, and IT teams to build repeatable pricing products and leadership views.
  • Help define KPIs with clear business definitions, calculation logic, source tables and fields, ownership, refresh frequency, exclusions, and Finance reconciliation requirements.
  • Contribute to dashboards covering executive performance, indexed accounts, general market pricing, leakage and opportunity, customer and product detail, and data quality.
  • Use sources such as SAP, Databricks, Salesforce, pricing tools, and business intelligence platforms to improve pricing visibility and decision speed.
  • Lead or contribute to process-improvement work that simplifies pricing models, strengthens controls, improves data quality, reduces manual effort, and supports sustainable fixes for recurring reliability issues.

How you work

The strongest candidate will bring sound judgment, curiosity, ownership, and the ability to turn complex analysis into clear commercial action. You will be successful if you can:

  • Own the business problem and outcomes, not just the analysis.
  • Form a point of view and bring a recommendation—not just a set of outputs or observations.
  • Work effectively through ambiguity, make assumptions explicit, and defend your reasoning.
  • Seek input from subject-matter experts, test whether results make business sense and refine recommendations when the evidence changes.
  • Document methods, assumptions, ownership, and next steps so the work can be repeated and improved.
  • Balance margin, customer value, volume, competitiveness, and execution risk.
  • Explain technical or analytical findings in easy-to-understand business language, build credibility through accurate analysis, timely responses, clear communication, reliable follow-through.

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field
  • 3 or more years of experience in pricing, commercial strategy, finance, business development, analytics, or a related field

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • Experience working with complex business data, financial models, or commercial analyses
  • Strong analytical capabilities, including proficiency in Excel and the ability to bring a solution-oriented approach to problem solving
  • Strong written and verbal communication and comfort with creating professional PowerPoint presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships across functions, navigate differing priorities, and influence commercial decisions
  • Experience with pricing strategy, price realization, cost pass-through, index-based pricing, customer segmentation, value- and cost-based pricing, competitive pricing, or margin management
  • Experience supporting customer bids, negotiations, business development, key accounts, or new-business implementation
  • Experience with economic modeling, including NPV, IRR, payback, profitability, or cost-to-serve analysis
  • Experience with Databricks, SQL, Power BI, SAP, Salesforce, and pricing systems
  • Experience defining KPIs, documenting calculation logic, mapping source data, or building governed dashboards
  • Background in industrial, energy, manufacturing, chemical, or finished-lubricants businesses
