Senior Enterprise Data & AI Governance Engineer

Phillips 66 is seeking an Sr. Enterprise Data & AI Governance Engineer to build and scale the technical foundation of our enterprise data governance program. This role plays a critical part in enabling high-quality, trusted data and AI readiness across the organization by combining hands-on engineering with governance practices. You will work across technical and business teams to implement scalable solutions, improve data reliability, and support decision-making through well-governed data products.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Build, maintain, and enhance governance infrastructure, including readiness scoring engines, certification dashboards, intake workflows, and automated monitoring systems to ensure data product health and scalability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align data architecture, standards, and data quality practices while managing key components of the data management system and supporting enterprise data warehouse environments.
  • Design and implement data pipelines, dashboards, and reporting solutions to deliver accurate, timely insights for a variety of audiences.
  • Configure and manage metadata, data catalog entries, and data quality rules across data products and platforms.
  • Perform readiness assessments, identify gaps, and partner with data owners to drive remediation and certification readiness.
  • Analyze current and future state processes, conduct gap analysis, and recommend improvements to governance workflows and data architecture.
  • Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot performance issues, and support testing activities to maintain system reliability.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with enterprise data governance and business intelligence standards.

 

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field
  • 3 or more years of experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, data management, or business intelligence
  • 3 or more years of experience with Python, SQL, Databricks, and Data Visualization tools
  • 1 or more years of experience with full stack development
  • 3 or more years communicating effectively across teams (technical and non-technical), manage priorities, and support multiple efforts simultaneously 

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • Experience in the energy industry or with enterprise-scale data environments
  • Experience implementing data governance frameworks, data quality standards, and data architecture practices
  • Experience with data catalog tools such as Unity Catalog, Alation, or Collibra
  • Experience with Prompt engineering 
  • Experience working with knowledge graphs and semantic layer models 
  • Familiarity with AI governance, data lineage, and responsible AI practices
  • Experience with Jira, ADO, or similar tools for workflow and program tracking
  • Hands-on experience with Databricks Genie or natural language query tools
  • Knowledge of enterprise systems such as SAP S/4HANA or RightAngle
  • Relevant certifications in data engineering, cloud platforms, or governance frameworks
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and solve complex data-related problems
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences

 

Compensation Range 

This position has a base salary range of $140,400 – $171,600.

Where a candidate offer falls within the posted range depends on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
