The Senior Advisor, Category Management (Gases) is a senior category leader who owns high-complexity, high-value, operationally critical category portfolios and drives multi-site strategies, complex negotiations, proactive supplier and stakeholder communication and implements significant change across Phillips 66 in the Industrial Gases category.
This individual contributor role is accountable for shaping and executing category strategy, architecture, and playbooks for the Industrial Gases category domains, leading cross-functional activities and teams to deliver material commercial value, strengthen supplier partnerships, and manage risk at scale. Operating at an advanced and highly independent level, this role engages with and influences mid- to senior-level stakeholders, drives alignment across sites and functions, and serves as a trusted thought partner on category, supplier, and market strategies within their area. They anticipate and manage significant business implications, document and articulate strategies, mitigate operational upsets, coach and develop others, and lead major category initiatives while escalating true enterprise-exposure or highest-impact matters as appropriate.
What You’ll Do
- Define and lead strategies for high‑complexity, high‑value portfolios within the Industrial Gases category including but not limited to, H2 and N2 pipeline and liquid deliveries, Helium, Argon, CO2, N2 pumper truck services, and cylinder gases for the enterprise.
- Develop and refine category strategies, architecture, playbooks, and execution approaches used across relevant sites and stakeholders in the broader organization.
- Design and negotiate complex commercial and contractual models that balance risk, value, and strategic positioning.
- Lead multi‑site supplier performance and relationship management, including innovation and productivity programs.
- Influence mid- to senior- level business and functional leaders on major portfolio and contracting decisions, using strong data narratives.
- Apply deep business and market insight to anticipate shifts and reposition the subcategories proactively.
- Drive major multi-site execution and change initiatives, ensuring consistent implementation across assets and functions.
- Integrate advanced analytics, digital tools, and AI into category work and enabling others to do the same.
- Provide advanced analytical thinking and data storytelling to frame options and support significant portfolio decisions.
- Build and use TCO/Should Cost and market-based scenario models to improve forecasting and guide negotiations to inform and articulate trade-offs and value levers for existing and new supplier agreements.
- Manage strategic and core supplier relationships with consistent KPIs and governance. Ensure systems, documents and data enable and reinforce the category strategies, operating model and governance.
- Embed robust risk and compliance management in strategies, sourcing events, and contracts, serving as a strong line of defense for resilient supply within the category area.
- Promotes compliance with P66's code of conduct, ensuring by personal example and coaching that P66 staff and our partners understand and practice ethical business behavior, and using reasonable care to monitor suppliers and contractors working for P66 to ensure they work in a manner consistent with the code.

What You’ll Bring – Required
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Bachelor’s degree
- 10 or more years of experience procurement, sourcing, supply chain, engineering, or related business roles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate category strategies, negotiate contracts and manage relationships with stakeholders and suppliers
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or relevant discipline
- 12 or more years of procurement experience in the energy industry with sourcing, negotiations, and contracting
- Working knowledge of category management processes, procedures, practices, and techniques
- Proven ability to negotiate favorable terms and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost savings and performance improvements
- Experience with ERP and procurement systems (Ie, SAP, iCertis, GEP)
Compensation Range
This position has a base salary range of $160,200 - $195,800.
