As a Supervisor II, Shift Team at Phillips 66, you will lead a team of operators on the production line to safely and reliably deliver on our plan each shift. You will guide day-to-day operations, remove barriers so your team can do their best work, and help build a culture of accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a team of shift operations employees to safely meet daily and monthly volume, quality, and cost targets, setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and following through on commitments to build trust.
  • Own the performance of your shift by monitoring key performance indicators, responding quickly to issues, and holding yourself and the team accountable for meeting production, safety, and environmental standards.
  • Build a cohesive, inclusive team by coaching operators, providing regular performance and development feedback, and ensuring everyone understands their roles, standard work, and how their work connects to site goals.
  • Oversee day-to-day operation of production equipment and systems, including start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers, and new product trials, adjusting processes to optimize reliability, throughput, and product quality.
  • Coordinate work scheduling, material and resource planning, and maintenance activities for your shift to keep the line running efficiently, using data to make sound, timely decisions and knowing when to escalate issues.
  • Champion a strong safety culture by applying safe work practices, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and regulatory requirements, and stopping or adjusting work when conditions are unsafe or unclear.
  • Partner across shifts and functions to remove barriers, share information, and implement standard work and continuous improvement ideas that enhance equipment uptime and reduce waste.
  • Lead the team through change, such as new procedures, equipment, or production plans, by providing clarity, remaining calm under pressure, and helping employees adapt while maintaining performance.
  • Support troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and equipment rebuilds by coordinating with maintenance and technical experts and ensuring clear communication and documentation of issues and resolutions.

 

What You’ll Bring – Required

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country.
  • Possess a valid Driver’s License
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.
  • 3 or more years of relevant working experience in operations, production, manufacturing, or related roles.
  • Must be willing and able, with or without reasonable accommodations, to comply with the following:
    • Travel up to 5%
    • Work extended hours, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays, and perform occasional on-call duties
    • Transport articles up to 50 pounds
    • Climb ladders and stairs up to 200 feet
    • Work safely near large, hot, high-speed machines, around chemicals and hydrocarbons under high pressure and heat, and in harsh weather conditions
    • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment
    • Maintain face daily for proper respirator/face mask seal. (some examples include being free of facial hair and/or clean shaven)

 

What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred

  • Experience in refining, petrochemical, or energy manufacturing environments.
  • 1 or more years of experience supervising employees or leading a team, including directing daily work and managing performance.
  • 5 or more years of production or manufacturing operations experience.
  • Proven success leading shift teams to meet or exceed safety, quality, cost, and delivery targets in a high-hazard or highly regulated environment.
  • Experience with production planning, scheduling, and key performance indicator (KPI) management tools and systems.
  • Experience driving standard work, total productive maintenance, or other continuous improvement programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to scale leadership behaviors that align with Phillips 66’s leadership expectations, such as building inclusive teams, collaborating across functions, taking ownership, and navigating change.

 

Compensation Range 

 

This position has a base salary range of $125,100– $152,900.

Where a candidate offer falls within the posted range depends on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s requirements. The Billings Refinery is located in Billings, Montana. Its facilities include crude distilling, naphtha reforming, fluid catalytic cracking, alkylation, hydrodesulfurization and delayed coking units. The refinery processes a mixture of Canadian heavy, high-sulfur crude oil delivered by pipeline, and domestic crude oil delivered by truck. With the startup of a new vacuum distillation unit in 2017, the refinery has 100 percent heavy crude processing capability. The refinery produces a high percentage of transportation fuels and petroleum coke. Finished petroleum products are distributed by pipeline, rail car and truck. Pipelines transport most of the refined products to markets in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Colorado and Washington.
