As an Advisor III, Data Science, you’ll turn complex data into clear insights, reporting, and analytical solutions that support business decisions and strategic planning at Phillips 66. You’ll work across the enterprise with business partners, subject matter experts, and technology teams, with the opportunity to see your work improve how teams plan, operate, and measure performance.
What You’ll Do
- Partner with business leaders and subject matter experts to identify high-value opportunities for data science and advanced analytics.
- Translate business questions into well-defined analytical problems, measurable objectives, and practical solution approaches.
- Collect, prepare, validate, and analyze large, complex, and imperfect data sets from multiple sources.
- Develop, test, and evaluate predictive, statistical, optimization, forecasting, and machine-learning models.
- Apply appropriate methods in statistics, probability, mathematics, experimentation, forecasting, and machine learning.
- Use Python and related analytical tools for data exploration, feature engineering, model development, validation, visualization, and documentation.
- Interpret model outputs and translate technical findings into clear insights, recommendations, and business actions.
- Communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical audiences, including business stakeholders and leadership.
- Collaborate with data engineering, IT, and platform teams to deploy, monitor, document, and improve analytical solutions.
- Support the adoption of models by embedding them into recurring business processes, decision workflows, and durable data products.
- Assess model assumptions, limitations, risks, performance, and appropriate use to support responsible decision-making.
- Contribute reusable analytical workflows, standards, tools, and best practices that increase the effectiveness of the broader Data Science organization.
- Manage assigned work through established planning and review processes, providing regular progress updates and escalating issues when appropriate.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve efficiency, expand adoption, and increase the value created through data and analytics.
What You'll Bring- Required
- Legally authorized to work in the job posting country
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3 or more years of experience applying data science, advanced analytics, statistical modeling, machine learning, or mathematical modeling to business problems.
- Intermediate proficiency in Python
What Makes You Stand Out- Preferred
- Master’s degree or advanced training in a quantitative discipline
- More than 5 years of experience in analytics, data science, business intelligence, or a related field
- Experience in energy, refining, chemicals, manufacturing, commercial, supply chain, finance, or another industrial environment
- Experience with cloud-based analytics environments, modern data platforms, and model deployment workflows
- Familiarity with SQL, Git, notebooks, visualization tools, and common machine-learning libraries
- Experience supporting analytical solutions through productionization, monitoring, documentation, or operational adoption
- Knowledge of optimization, time-series forecasting, causal analysis, natural language processing, or artificial intelligence
- Experience explaining model assumptions, uncertainty, limitations, and business implications to decision-makers
- Experience coordinating the work of others
- Experience working with large, complex, and imperfect data sets
- Working knowledge of statistical methods, predictive modeling, model validation, and data visualization
Compensation Range
This position has a base salary range of $125,100 – $152,900

Where a candidate offer falls within the posted range depends on the candidate's experience, skills, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
